Heidelberg Materials is seeking a Cement Terminal Manager to join our team. The Cement Terminal Manager role reports directly to the Vice President, Cement Operations for our Northwest Region. This position can be based in Calgary, Edmonton, Regina, or Winnipeg.
What You’ll Get to Do
Manage all aspects of cement terminal operations in Western Canada, Amaranth gypsum quarry with transload facility, maintenance, and contractors in line with Company targets and plans
Proactively manage Health & Safety initiatives to continuously improve the company’s performance and promote the highest level of safety in the operations
Develop the annual Operating Plan and Capex Plan for the sites; oversee the execution of Capital Projects
Responsible for inventory management at all sites and proper tracking of rail cars
Promote all aspects of enhanced Sustainability in the cement terminals – support the future distribution of carbon-free cement through the Company’s cement terminals
Negotiate collective agreements and manage labor relations
Drive Digital initiatives on the terminal level in line with Group’s Digital developments and offerings
Ensure compliance requirements are met through organizational and procedural measures including implementation of Group guidelines, inventory control processes, completion of required training, and monitoring compliance
Promote relationships with the local community, industry organizations, and regulatory bodies
Ensure close cooperation with the Regional Sales Group and Group Support Functions
Essential Skills and Qualifications
Post-secondary degree in Engineering preferred
Minimum of 6 years of management experience required; prior experience in terminal operations or other related industrial operations management experience preferred
Working knowledge of marine distribution, railroad, and trucking operations and practices
Advanced interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and think strategically
Demonstrated competency in the areas of financial management, performance management, problem-solving and decision making
Outstanding verbal and written communication, and networking skills
Strong negotiation and influencing ability
