Leena is Canada’s first and largest national BIPOC-focused therapy platform. Leena means “light: or “ray of sunlight” and our mission is to make therapy accessible to underserved communities, making an impact on their mental health and wellbeing. Founded by Sarah Ahmed (@the.poc.therapist) – a woman of colour who deeply understands and has experienced first-hand the disparity in mental health care for BIPOC communities across Canada, our goal is to build a platform where everyone is welcome. Leena is looking for highly motivated and skilled clinicians to provide counselling services using an evidence based, culturally competent, trauma informed approach to our clients.

Our clinical team provides interventions through evidence-based methods of psychotherapy models including CBT, DBT, EFT, Solution focused brief therapy and EMDR.

Responsibilities

• Assessing clients to determine their mental health needs and developing treatment plans accordingly.
• Providing individual, couples and family psychotherapy sessions to support clients with their mental health concerns.
• Maintaining detailed and accurate client records, including progress notes, treatment plans, and other documentation.
• Maintaining the confidentiality of client information and adhering to all relevant ethical and legal guidelines.
• Collaborating with other community supports as per clients needs, to create a holistic care plan to provide comprehensive care to clients.
• Conducting crisis interventions as needed and referring clients to other mental health resources when necessary.
• Monitoring clients’ progress and adjusting treatment plans as needed to ensure the best possible outcomes.
• Following up with inactive clients and providing check ins with them till discharge.
• Complete appropriate discharge planning with clients towards end of care.
• Engaging in ongoing professional development to stay up-to-date best practice guidelines in psychotherapy.
• Supporting psychotherapy students with supervision as needed.
• Conducting mental health workshops for communities and organizations.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in social work and/or acceptable combination of equivalent experience (eg: RSW, RP, RCC, CCC, RCSW). Must be in good standing with professional college
• Minimum five years related experience, in a Community Mental Health Setting, performing case management including assessments, individual counselling to individuals and families as well as experience providing psycho-educational workshops
• Extensive experience with mental health concerns, behavioural issues, and conflict resolution
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Knowledge and competency in maintaining confidentiality of client information according to FIPPA and PHIPA legislation
• Respond to new client inquiries in a timely manner and provide an overall excellent level of client experience
• Strong knowledge of community resources, province based and Canada wide
• Demonstrated ability to relate to clients in ways that build confidence and trust
• Able to work in a highly diverse community with individuals from varied backgrounds and a variety of age groups, presenting with a range of difficulties and personal issues
• Good judgment, sensitivity, flexibility, discretion and resourcefulness
• Ability to communicate effectively with staff and senior administrators about issues facing individuals in crisis and make recommendations

Assets

• Culturally competent, trauma informed counselling experience, life coaching, mindful based therapies and alternative evidenced-based therapies
• Supporting clients and their loved ones with a working knowledge of other languages
• Experience working with marginalized communities, post-secondary students and knowledge of community holistic health resources

Notes: Start date of your employment is flexible. Will be hiring until we fill positions. We can work around completion of internships/other type of work you may be presently doing.
