We need an experienced WordPress developer to work on new websites and help maintain over 100 existing websites.
You have worked on dozens of WordPress websites and are familiar with WooCommerce too. You already know how to use ACF, Foundation, Java, JavaScript, PHP, etc. and are interested in working on interesting web development projects. You are not a beginner.
Our preference is to hire someone from Western Canada or Ontario.
Is this you?
- You are a master of WordPress, with a minimum of 5 years experience
- You have experience building websites from concept to completion
- You’re up-to-date with the latest web technologies and libraries
- You have an understanding of interaction, motion, and graphic design and can translate them to web elements (CSS Transitions, animations and more complex Javascript Animations)
- Proficient in JavaScript & jQuery
- Proficient in HTML (clean and logical HTML structures)
- Proficient in CSS (media queries, advanced animations responsive design best practices)
- Proficient in PHP (particularly a good understand of using WordPress functions to both debug and create functionality where needed, including, but not limited to: loops, debugging, and conditionals)
- An understanding of the the Wordpress template hierarchy, database, wp-config file, and other crucial Wordpress files
- A thorough understanding of ACF, Custom Post Types, Wordpress Queries and taxonomies
- The ability to confidently debug solutions using the console, network, and performance tabs
- A good understanding of Google Lighthouse Performance Scores and how to implement fixes to suggested areas
Expectations:
Your exact work hours are flexible, but you need to at least partially work/be available during regular client hours (8am – 5pm PST-Vancouver). There are many parts of this position that require assistance or oversight from others – we work as a team. Our preference is to work with someone within 3 hours of our time zone (PST). There is no weekend work.
We’re not good with other languages so we expect a high skill level of English speaking and writing.
What you need:
Since this is a remote position, you require a fast/broadband internet connection, your own computer and a web cam/microphone for Slack calls and Zoom meetings.
Who we are:
At Honeycomb Creative we develop complex catalog, e-commerce and marketing websites using WordPress and WooCommerce. Our projects tend to take longer and are more complex than typical WordPress websites. We run multiple servers with Upcloud, DigitalOcean and Vultr. We’re a small shop with a world-class approach to web development. We use an object oriented approach to WordPress programming and have our own custom CMS development environment that we use on the majority of our websites. The only WordPress builder that we occasionally use is Oxygen Builder.
