About the role:
Provide Retail MBC (Mortgage Broker Channel) credit risk assessments and approvals within delegated limits.
Provide credit structuring support and advise the frontline MBC CARE Team / Independent Brokers accordingly.
Responsibilities:
Analyze and approve/decline/defer Independent Mortgage Broker retail credit applications within delegated authority, exercising sound judgment in decision making process to ensure the quality of the Bank’s portfolio is maintained.
Assess risk through consideration of applicant’s financial history, cash flow and other analysis within established policies and guidelines.
Effectively communicate decisions and rationale to the MBC CARE Team and Independent Mortgage Brokers.
Provide timely, concise and judicious reporting of credit decisions to Independent Brokers.
Remain available to Independent Brokers to clarify / rationalize credit decisions by direct communication.
Deliver fair outcomes for our customers and ensure own conduct maintains the orderly and transparent operation of financial markets.
Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the HSBC Brand.
Effective communication with MBC Underwriters, MBC CARE Team, Independent Mortgage Brokers and HSBC Management
Action suspected / confirmed Fraud advice with speed and diligence.
Gain Credit HSBC Policy, Credit initiatives and Proficiency via on the job training, individual performance assessment, review of established Credit Policies and Guidelines with periodic proficiency examination.
Performing routine activities and processes within scope of the role, ensuring accuracy and quality control.
Assess and escalate any identified risk issues as required.
Understand and adhere to established Credit Policies and Guidelines at all times.
Support HSBC change initiatives and escalate concerns as identified.
Ensure all employees are aware of and effectively identify and manage applicable Money Laundering (ML), Terrorist Financing (TF), Sanctions and Reputational Risks.
Complete other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum of 3 to 5 years proven experience in small business/retail lending, credit analysis or equivalent.
Bachelor’s degree in business, related field or equivalent experience.
Proven mathematical, analytical and communications skills.
Sound knowledge of HSBC credit products, policies and processes
Sound Retail Credit Risk knowledge with skills including mortgage credit regulations and guidelines.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
