Hudson’s Bay Looking for VP, DMM – Women’s Footwear, Centre Core, Intimates at Toronto, Ontario, Canada Full Time

Day In The Life:

The VP, Divisional Merchandise Manager (DMM) is critical in driving the overall performance of their merchandise group for Hudson’s Bay. This role will lead a high-performing merchant team, while driving KPIs, product offerings, and customer experience. As this is a true OMNI role, the VP/DMM will lead all merchant strategies for Hudson’s Bay, ensuring a best in class assortment mix alongside margin profitability. They will develop and lead company-wide initiatives and projects, and strategize with other teams in the organization to facilitate continued growth and success. The DMM will establish and consistently communicate short and long-term merchandising department objectives in support of Hudson’s Bay’s strategy and business objectives.

What You Will Do:

• Strategy: Set strategic direction for the merchandising group to drive digital & store business growth and innovation, using input from SVP GMM. Translate strategy into specific group/department merchandising initiatives including digital assortments.
• Financial Analysis: Review and direct financial plans for the group, partnering with DVP/GPM of Merchandise Planning and Allocation. Accountable for the overall financial performance of the group
• Brand/Vendor Assortment: Work with Buyers to develop a vendor/brand matrix to deliver against strategy
• Marketing Plan: Partner with the Marketing team to develop group and department sales plans to drive regular, promotional, and clearance activities across all department areas.
• Build Internal Relationships: Critical to build and maintain strong relationships with Vendor Media, Marketplace, Digital, Store Merchandising, and Store Executive teams. The ability to work and leverage cross-functional teams to drive collaboration, idea generation, and drive efficiencies.
• Assortment Planning: Approve and direct development of assortment plan department/categories
• Vendor Partnerships: Develop strong vendor partnerships to include vendor contract/profit model/vendor media-marketing negotiations; coaching and directing buyers on the same.
• Trend Analysis: Fully conversant with significant market and merchandising trends, ideas, and competitive set in their area, all while maintaining both a digital focus and delivering on store strategies
• People Development: Lead, develop, retain, and recruit a diverse merchandising team capable of fulfilling business goals and objectives
• Business Planning: Accountable for using company-approved tools and processes to support planning, analysis, and measurement of business

What You Will Need:

• BFA or BA in Fashion Merchandising, Business, or a related field preferred
• Must have 8-10 years of overall Buying/Merchandising experience, with extensive experience in a management role and experience working in Digital Merchandising or building and driving digital sales
• Must have 6-8 years of experience as a multi-category manager, overseeing both the creative and financial aspects of merchandising
• Experience as a Merchandising Manager in multiple product lines is essential
• Strong retail math acumen, including elements of markup, margin planning, open to buy, inventory productivity measures (WOS, T/O, GMROI), Assortment Planning, and knowledge of cost accounting model
• Demonstrated leadership skills required
