Ideal Roofing Company Limited Looking for HUMAN RESOURCES GENERALIST at Ottawa, ON Full Time

We are seeking for a Bilingual HR Generalist to add to our Ideal team.

This position provides a full range of human resources services and support to the organization, its managers and to both union and non-union employees.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Participate in establishing an organizational culture and a work environment that fosters high performance, customer focus, cost awareness and a sustainable future.
• Assist with development, implementation, and ongoing administration of HR programs and policies (e.g. on boarding, performance management, recruitment, service awards, health and safety, attendance management, trainings etc.).
• Maintain a general knowledge and understanding of relevant employment and labour legislation, conduct research, draft and administer various HR policies and provide guidance to managers and employees on their application.
• Support recruitment efforts by working with hiring managers to develop job postings, conducting interviews and pre-screening of candidates, and drafting employment offer letters, employment confirmation letters, etc.
• Facilitate onboarding to employees as it relates to company overview and plant layout, health and safety training, critical human resources policies and related trainings, union and non/union payroll, benefits and pension plan options; educate employees on their entitlements and identifying and addressing their needs, liaison with benefits providers.

• Ensure the validity of work permits and visas, confirming that there are no restrictions impeding the candidate’s ability to work and that these are up-dated and/or extended by the employee as needed.
• Assist with the planning and coordination of safety training and updates.
• Ensure all employee records within the Human Resources Management and Time Reporting Systems and files are complete and accurate.
• Maintain and contribute to the consistent administration of the Attendance Management Program
• Complete various filings and submissions, i.e. excess hours, government grants.
• Run absenteeism reports as required.
• Participate in and support ad hoc special projects.
• Perform other related duties.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• 
  Fluently bilingual (English/French)
• College Diploma or University Degree in Human Resources Management or Business, coupled with at least 3 years of relevant work experience preferably in a manufacturing and unionized environment
• Working towards Certified Human Resources (CHRP) professional designation
• Strong understanding and knowledge of Human Resources Management principles, processes/policies, best practices.
• Basic knowledge and understanding of employment legislation in Canada.
• Capacity to work independently, as well as in a team environment, with the ability to
  handle stress in a business-like manner.
• Ability to multi-task and handle conflicting deadlines successfully
• Strong organizational and administrative skills, with the ability to
  multi-task, set priorities and meet deadlines.
• Self-motivated, detail oriented, and able to deal with sensitive issues.
• Excellent oral, written and presentation skills
• Experience working closely with internal clients on sensitive issues and demonstrates
  discretion in handling confidential and private information.
• Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Unix, HRIS an asset.
