We are looking for a grant writer/fundraiser for our organization, the Indian Society of Calgary for a duration of 8 weeks.
The total duration of the contract: 8 weeks
Start date: Negotiable
Job type: Full time (7 hours/ day or 35 hours/week) Flexible hours
Salary: $15 per hour
Responsibilities
1. Work with the administrative team to develop a deep understanding of the organization’s current funding structure and partnerships.
2. Create grant proposals that successfully secure funding for our organization.
3. Create a grant funding strategy that takes into account the vision and mission of the organization
4. Conduct research that supports the successful execution of the organization’s grant writing strategy.
5. Apply to government and non-government grants and communicate with the officials on the organization’s behalf.
6. Develop templates to streamline the grant proposal process.
7. Write reports for grants already received.
8. Exchange ideas with the administrative team to develop additional funding resources.
Skills and experience required:
1. A University degree or diploma in public policy, media and communications, arts, commerce, history, or political science (Desirable) (Pursuing or completed)
2. Demonstrated experience in writing grant proposals (Essential)
3. Ability to work independently and in teams
4. Good verbal and written communication skills
5. Comfortable with the use of computers, and basic software programs such as Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, Adobe.
6. Demonstrated experience in literature search and synthesis of the literature for writing grant proposals
7. Basic understanding of the grants and funding sources for the non-profit organization both at the Provincial and Federal levels in Canada as well as internationally.
8. Ability to plan and deliver oral and written communications respectfully and tactfully to make an impact and persuade an intended audience.
9. Takes personal responsibility for the quality and timeless work and achieves results with little oversight.
10. Demonstrates good listening skills with the ability to clarify requested information.
11. Possesses a high level of attention to detail and accuracy
12. Ability to work with the administrative team to work on new ideas for fundraising for the organization
