Tool Shop (Injection Mold Maintenance) Mold Maker/Tool Maker

Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for the repair and maintenance of injection molds, fixtures, and tools
• Responsible for quick assessment/troubleshooting at molding machine to determine if mold needs to be pulled or quick repair can be done in machine.
• Responsible for the thorough inspection of new tooling and completing. (Mold Finish Assembly Checklist)
• Perform mold design revisions and updates using 3D CAD system
• Supervise other tool shop mold makers in fabrication, repair and maintenance activities
• Responsible for shop equipment maintenance, up-keep, and housekeeping.
• Responsible spare mold parts inventory work order bins and re-order as needed
• Must be willing to work overtime and weekends for urgent repairs.
• Any other duties assigned by Manager.

Skills and Qualifications

· Grade 12 education or equivalent

· Certificate in Mold Making / Machinist /Tool and Die

· Minimum 3 years experience in a related role

· Must be able to operate a Milling machine, Surface grinder and Lathe.

· Experience with hand work such as filing, deburring and use pencil grinder.

· Experience in plastic injection molding an asset (automotive industry preferred)

· Experience with hot runner systems an asset.

· Experience in operation of EDM an asset.

· Good communication and interpersonal skills are an asset

· Understanding of Injection machines including auxiliary equipment & robotics an asset

· Computer literate and able to review mold design that is in shop for repair. (Using Cad software)

· Good communication skills, written and verbal

· Good Interpersonal skills

· Ability to work with minimal supervision

· Good problem-solving abilities

Job Type: Full time

Location: Toronto (Scarborough).

Time: 8 hours (days), Monday to Friday + Overtime as required

Pay: $25 – $35 / hr.
