About The Job

Reporting directly to the President and Chief Financial Officer, the Controller is a critical leadership team member who will serve as a strategic thought partner and support as Inversa grows. The Controller is responsible for accounting, banking relationship and treasury management. The Controller will maintain internal reporting and produce financial statements for ownership. They will support the Executive team’s business planning.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

• Serve as a valued thought partner to the President, CFO and leadership team in developing and evaluating strategic goals and objectives, with specific ownership of finance and accounting decisions.
• Work with CFO to provide ownership and funders with timely financial information and be available to communicate complex financial information, including risks and opportunities, in clear and compelling ways.
• Lead analysis and contribute to negotiations regarding potential strategic partnerships, e-commerce agreements and other potential income streams.

Financial Management

• Lead budgeting, forecasting, analysis, reporting, and long-range planning; propose action plans to ensure that annual financial objectives are attained.
• Lead banking and cash management relationships and accounts; propose action plans to ensure that annual financial objectives and covenants are attained.
• Develop tools and systems to provide staff with critical reports and analytics to support decision-making and ensure full transparency of financials.
• Work closely with the leadership team and staff to enhance systems to accurately develop and track revenues and expenses, and to develop strategies to increase revenues and reduce costs.

Accounting

• Manage all accounting, payroll and audit activities and reporting; ensure accuracy and compliance with appropriate standards and regulatory requirements.
• Lead cash flow planning and forecasting; oversee cash, investments, and asset management.
• Establish effective policies and processes and ensure strong internal controls over all accounting procedures.
• Manage government grants and programs. Prepare the applications, be a liaison with government representatives and manage the compliance processes.

Team Leadership

• Inspire, mentor and lead the accounting team.
• Clarify roles and responsibilities, establish and monitor performance goals and implement professional development to set employees up for success and professional growth.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
• Professional accounting designation CPA (CA or CMA)
• 5+ years of experience in a financial managerial position preferred
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as advanced financial modeling skills
• Exceptional written and oral communication skills
• Results-oriented, strategic thinker and planner
• Experience in partnering with an executive team is preferred
• Experience with spreadsheet and financial analysis software, including Sage
