Job Purpose
Deliver internal and external financial reporting for the North American entities. Manage AP, AR, payroll & cash and ensure sound internal financial controls for the North American businesses.
The primary tasks of the Regional Controller, in relation to the Canadian and US operations, are as follows (unless otherwise specified):
To take ownership of regional input to the group’s monthly management and annual and interim statutory reporting processes, ensuring that reliable financial and operational information is produced on a timely and consistent basis. This will include liaising with the UK Controller to obtain financials and other information.
Hire and train new employees in the Finance department.
Supervise and manage the Finance department’s assignments and priorities, providing timely and constructive feedback.
Production and review of monthly reconciliations
Weekly updating of cash flow forecasts and managing cash resources across bank accounts
Manage payments runs and reviewing customer invoicing
Management of corporate insurance and claims
Ad-hoc technical finance (e.g., revenue recognition, provisions)
Review of GST returns submissions
Liaising with company secretarial service providers to ensure companies fulfil their compliance requirements
Management of the external audit process at regional subsidiary level
Ensuring appropriate finance policies are applied correctly and consistently
Periodic analysis & external reporting to obtain grants
Continued engagement with the business to ensure accurate and complete finance
Ensure the integrity of the internal control environment and systems
Work with HR for accurate and timely monthly payroll processing and reporting, and submissions to 401k program.
Assist with development and implementation of financial and operational systems to allow more effective and efficient management and control of the business
Other ad-hoc projects and financial analysis as required
Professional accounting designation with 10+ years of experience at the controller or higher level (public practice and/or industry)
Strong technical skills, IFRS experience is preferred, manufacturing experience is an asset
Experience writing technical accounting memos and working with external auditors
Ability to analyse transactions and bring structure to evolving environments through collaboration and problem-solving
Experience coaching, mentoring and managing a diverse team
