Our client, a top Canadian Cannabis firm, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant to join their finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting functions of the company, ensuring the accuracy of financial records and reports, and providing financial analysis and guidance to senior management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and oversee the day-to-day accounting functions of the company, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger.
• Prepare and review financial statements and reports, ensuring their accuracy and compliance with accounting principles and regulations.
• Develop and maintain financial controls and procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial regulations.
• Provide financial analysis and guidance to senior management, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Assist in the preparation of annual audits and tax filings, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
• Develop and maintain relationships with banks, auditors, and other financial institutions.
• Ensure compliance with all local, provincial, and federal tax laws.
• Train and mentor junior accounting staff.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
• CPA designation a plus, MBA a plus.
• At least 3 years of experience in accounting or a related field.
• Strong understanding of GAAP/IFRS.
• Experience in the cannabis or agriculture or pharma industry is preferred.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
