Reporting to the Financial Accounting Manager, the Financial Analyst is responsible for:
Analyzes and prepares GL journal entries and accruals in accordance with applicable accounting standards and internal policies and procedures
Supports the Finance team in completing monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing and reporting requirements
Assists with Ministry submissions and working with management to validate accuracy and reasonableness of data
Supports financial and operational performance by comparing and analyzing actual results with plans and forecasts
Supports the annual auditing process by maintaining audit working files and addressing inquiries as needed
Provides daily administrative support to the finance team
Develops and maintains effective and collaborative working relationships with staff across the organization to facilitate deliverables, resolve issues, and collaborate on projects
Provides financial support for other project and initiatives through completion of ad hoc analysis and reports
Qualifications:
Strong skills with MS Excel, Office 365, OneNote required and experience with accounting software (Great Plains) would be an asset
Strong analytical and inquiry skills to understand operational processes
Knowledge and understanding of financial controls, not-for-profit accounting and ministry reporting standards would be an asset
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Detail-oriented with superior analysis and problem-solving skills
Degree or diploma in finance, accounting or related field
3 years work experience with knowledge of Broader Public Sector
