We are seeking a proactive and detail orientated Construction Safety Officer (CSO) to join our team.

As a Construction Safety Officer (CSO) and a member of the team, you will be responsible for proactively implementing and maintaining on-site safety programs and training.

Job Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Promote and maintain good working relationships and collaboration with peers, clients, consultants, and suppliers
• Ensure safety is a priority that is managed in every project

SAFETY

• Coordinate and educate out Team on compliance with occupational health and safety requirements and best practices on-site to meet or exceed all WorkSafeBC regulations and requirements
• Meet regularly with team members to provide safety training, education, and guidance
• Evaluate, implement and train site-specific safe work practices & Safe job procedures, health and safety standards, programs, and practices
• Stop unsafe work or any work that does not meet our requirements and standards
• Participate and support staff in conducting effective incident investigations that identity underlying causes and effective corrective measures
• Create and review incident reports, inspection reports and identify trends and provide appropriate recommendations
• Provide site first aid, guidance, and support, as required
• Assist with Joint Health & safety Committee meetings
• Report site activities to the office Safety Lead
• Maintain and replenish required safety and first aid on site

LABOURER

• Assist with on-site with light labour, as required
• Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

• 5+ years of experience in safety roles in commercial, industrial, and civil construction
• BC Construction Safety Officer (CSO) or National Construction Safety Officer Designation (NCSO)
• A minimum of Level 2 safety certification
• Exceptional communication, management, customer service, problem-solving, and organization skills
• Strong construction safety leadership, and approach to all work
• A high degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability
• Highly Self-motivated and accountable
• Access to a vehicle and a valid BC Driver’s License to drive to project sites throughout the lower mainland.
• Demonstrated success in effectively mentoring and managing a team
• Strong work ethic, highly motivated and enjoys a challenge
• Strong attention to detail with a proactive approach
• Solution-focused with a high degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize workload and allocate time/resources accordingly
