Global Finance delivers most ongoing finance activities from outsourced providers. The KPMG resources in Global Finance are focused on providing value added activities which can only be delivered from within the firm.
Global Finance is responsible for managing all financial budgeting and reporting for KPMG International and its subsidiaries. This includes the following:
Levy and collection – issue levy and recharge to member firms, collections and reporting
Payable and disbursements – invoice processing, approval and payments for over 50+ significant functions
Management and financial reporting – interim and annual audited financial statements; actual versus budget monitoring and reporting; loans and investments summary; capitalization and maintenance of capital asset register
Direct and indirect taxes – to ensure complex compliance with several foreign reporting tax jurisdictions; prepare corporate tax filings for filings in various countries
Treasury functions – weekly and monthly cash flow projections; manage the initiation and maturity of currency hedges
Reporting to the Head of Controlling and working closely with the management team of the supported Global Function, the Finance Business Partner is the primary point of contact between the leadership of the supported function and KPMGI Finance. Besides being responsible for the finances of the supported Global Function, the Finance Business Partner supports the Global Head, the COO and the entire leadership team of the Supported function in executing on their vision and strategy.
What you will do:
Budgeting and Forecasting
Coordinate annual budgeting activities for the supported function/budget area
Assist leadership of the supported function/budget area in making decisions about the allocation of the budget approved by the Global Board
Prepare/review detailed budget templates to support the budget allocation approved by the leadership of the supported function/budget area
Coordinate quarterly forecasting, monitor forecast accuracy, understand drivers of variances, and hold stakeholders accountable to their forecasts.
Management accounting
Responsible for the budgetary control of supported function/budget area, ensuring suitable approval processes are in place for incoming and outgoing invoices, purchase orders and statements of work
Support business in preparing of monthly accruals. Oversee the processing of the accruals in sufficient detail to provide functional leadership with accurate and up to date financial results. Ensure the accounting principles are adhered to
Ensure function leadership are presented with sufficient accurate and timely management information to enable effective decision making
Provide appropriate insight and commentary regarding the financial performance of the function to leadership and other stakeholder groups
Ensuring that appropriate reporting structures are in place across the network for financial monitoring and control
Analyse spending with a particular focus on discretionary expenses i.e. travel, meals and entertainment
Enforcement of KPMG International finance policies
Responsible for the year-end close of the function’s finances including liaising with external auditors regarding the year-end financial results of the function where necessary
Monitor outstanding accounts payable and accounts receivable, acting as escalation point for aged creditors and debtors
Operational Finance
Work/oversee members of outsourced accounting team to complete the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process
Manage and approve invoices in accounts payable system (in line with the approval matrix)
Support business in being compliant with governance and approval requirements for Elective Services and Other Services
Complete billing request forms as required for Finance Operations team to issue invoices/recharges to internal groups and member firms
Manage the cost centre hierarchy and approval matrix including any changes to approvals, periodic review of approval limits and cost centre creation and changes.
On a rotating basis, review compliance of payruns of KPMG International with internal policies
Headcount and compensation monitoring and reporting
Monitoring of functional headcount roster, in collaboration with HR, for the purposes of budgetary control and forecasting
Provide appropriate budgetary confirmations of recruitment of new personnel
Support function/budget area leadership
Create and manage reports required by the business
Deliver meaningful insight and practical recommendations for business decisions
Support financial review meetings with business groups to ensure effective cost management
Support regular reporting of key initiatives as required by KPMGI Leadership. Provide financial information to project managers / review financial information prepared by project managers
As required, attend function leadership meetings to share finance information and stay abreast of functional developments
Act as liaison between the wider CAO organization (e.g. procurement, budgeting, tax teams) and the management of the supported function/budget area
KPMGI Finance Initiatives
Supporting continuous improvement and process optimization in all areas of KPMGI Finance
As required, own or contribute to various projects ran by KPMGI Finance
What you bring to this role:
Knowledge of IFRS, internal controls and SOX requirements
Knowledge of SAP is preferred
Numerate with advanced Excel skills
Minimum an undergraduate degree in business or finance
CPA or other comparable accounting qualification
At least 7 years’ progressive financial and management accounting experience preferably in a large, multinational environment
Self-motivated and proven ability to manage to deadlines
Committed to delivering results with the ability to work with minimal direction
Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
Monitors and evaluates projects and takes action to deliver the highest possible service
Manages conflicting demands and priorities
Understanding the businesses current needs and future aspirations
Identifies lessons learned from challenging incidents
Actively gathers knowledge, learns from experience, and learns from others
