Your next challenge as Section Chief of the Repair/Liaison Group
The main mandate is to provide leadership to the liaison engineering team (MRB) in order to optimize the design of repairs, the support to operations team and the satisfaction of airworthiness and customer requirements.
You will be responsible for the following:
Provide leadership of the liaison engineering group in Mirabel and at MOB (Main operating Bases)
Supervise a group of technologists and engineers, specialized in the design of aircraft structures modifications and non-standard repairs.
Coordinate and assign your department’s resources to the various projects while taking into account the execution phases, the customer’s requirements and the skills of your team members, to meet the required quality, timelines and budgets by the project engineering team.
More precisely, you will:
Engineering Manager, and be a key player in establishing and achieving quality, continuous improvement and training objectives for your sector.
Be a technical leader and mentor who will develop innovative work approaches that will increase the efficiency and mobility of resources.
Be responsible for developing and monitoring your employees’ training plans and giving feedback on performance appraisals.
Act as a leader in influencing your collaborators and colleague of all L3MAS services as well as commercial and military customers when identifying solutions to Risks and Operational opportunities.
Be responsible for assessing the level of manpower and participating in the recruitment process.
Be at ease in an environment controlled by policies, standards and procedures.
Make sure that your team works in accordance to industry best practices and with L3 MAS and corporation organizational values.
What will you do on a daily basis?
Supervision of employees
Administrative management, i.e. leave / vacation, schedules / timesheets
Individual meetings (one-on-one)
Performance Evaluation (PDA), progress and promotion process
Managing career development prospects
Disciplinary management (respect of policies, ethics)
Maintaining employee engagement
Planning career development opportunities for employees
Communication to employees, i.e. ROQ
Organizing, supporting and getting involved in recognition activities with team
Capacity management
Responsible for assigning resources to different projects
Active participation in demand/capacity analyses with Project and Program teams
Identify and communicate manpower requirements within team
Hiring and welcoming new employees in times of growth
Reassignment of staff to respond to variations in demand
Review/approval of estimates (RAM) and schedules
Preparation of proposals with the project team
Management/optimization of skills and standardization of practices for his discipline
Development and monitoring of training requirements, succession plans and coaching
Optimization and standardization of procedures and working methods to increase efficiency and mobility of resources and career development opportunities
Proposal and development of engineering manuals (Normalized Engineering Manuals (NEMs))
Management of the signing authorities
Technological watch for your discipline
Participate in the establishment and maintenance of continuous improvement culture
Quality management of deliverables
Resource-person in your field; reference for the discipline
Ensure the performance of your team to meet the objectives of cost, quality and schedules
Review and approval of documents and analyses of various projects
Response to quality metrics, risks and Corrective Action Requests (CARs) and implementation of action plans
Required Skills and Experiences:
College or Bachelor degree in aeronautical or mechanical engineering;
Minimum of 10 years of experience in liaison engineering, supporting production, repairs or modifications of aircraft structures. MRB Eng authority required.
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in personnel supervision and/or as team leader and/or coaching.
Knowledge of design and repair concepts for metallic and composites materials.
Knowledge in structural stress analyses: Statics, Fatigue, Damage Tolerance (DTA) and Finite Element Method (FEM).
Knowledge of DND and Transports Canada airworthiness processes.
Knowledge of CF-18, CT-114, CC-150 Structural Repair Manuals.
Bilingualism (French and English)
Hold a NATO Secret security clearance or be eligible to obtain this clearance at short notice.

Eligibility Criteria :
Must be eligible for registrationwiththe Controlled Goods Program;
Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a government of Canada “Reliability” status and Level 2 (Secret) security clearance;
For on-site positions, our location not accessible by public transport, car/carpooling required.
