About the opportunity:
The Production Planner manages all aspects of the production planning and scheduling of product for multiple production lines within the manufacturing facility. The Planner optimizes the days of supply, inventory investment, and productivity on the production lines to ensure that the right product is available for Lactalis customers.
The attributes we are looking for:
· Plan production of finished product to meet forecast and customer demand by creating production schedules for materials and resources using analysis of production capacities and packaging requirements. Analyze cost trade off in production planning to maximize plant efficiency while meeting customer expectations, sanitary requirements, preventative maintenance, and controlling inventories. Interact with Sales/Marketing and warehousing (distribution) to ensure delivery of product and to maintain product code dates as per company requirements.
· Plan production for raw materials and finished goods by identifying/maintaining required ingredient quantities, and advising Production department of quantities to produce, and monitoring volume to ensure required quantity is available.
· Assist with business development by providing timing for development of new products to external groups as required.
· Where applicable maintain supply of raw materials (i.e. milk) to meet product demand by determining quantities of milk based on forecast and placing orders with provincial dairy board in conjunction with Logistics & Planning Manager and Production Manager.
· Maintain inventory of packaging and ingredient material by coordinating inventory counts entering into the system (SAP) and directing purchases.
· Where applicable reconcile plant variances on an ongoing basis, complete period and year-end activities.
What you will bring:
· Post secondary education in Materials Management or related business field
· Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in production inventory or similar position preferably in a food-manufacturing environment
· Strong team building skills
· Ability to work with minimal supervision
· Strong interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills
· Planning and organizational skills
· Ability to understand the financial impact of sound inventory control procedures.
· Strong analytical ability of inventory, production and sales execution
· Proficient with standard office computer technology such as Lotus Notes and Microsoft Office products as well as logistics/distribution software, and SAP
