Role Summary
The Director of Material Planning and Logistics (MP&L) working alongside the other members of the Cosma International Materials and support team, is able to act as a leader for divisional problem solving and continuous improvement initiatives for all divisions globally. This role coordinates regional communication to support open dialogue and sharing of best practices so our Materials practices are always improving. The incumbent must be knowledgeable in specific regional business processes and work with the team to define business requirements and their linkages to Materials Management. The Director MP&L drives the design and implementation of new business processes and must have an in-depth understanding of business functions/process supported by ERP. The successful implementation of systems is dependent on the ability of this individual to influence business leadership and management decisions and drive ownership and acceptance of changes to the business.
Key Responsibilities
• Understands and is knowledgeable in Global MP&L processes
• Coordinates business process standardization with regional specialists and divisional and group SME’s with primary focus on Inventory Management, Cycle Counting, MRP, Production Scheduling , Material Warehousing and Material Conveyance, Advanced Materials (CPMP) , Customer Delivery Performance, and Mafact.
• Ensures Material planning systems (including ERP systems) and controls meet business requirements and goals. Evaluates business requirements for areas of improvement and recommends appropriate solutions. Prepares documentation; implement the same using internal and external resources
• Coordinates communication strategies to support open dialogue and sharing of best practices in order to continuously improve Cosma MP&L standards
• Responsible for reviewing, understanding and reporting out on Key MP&L KPIs as defined by Cosma Sub-group and Group requirements. Uses the data to drive continuous improvement.
• Maintains compliance and performs periodic audits on standards as published by Magna, Cosma, and other applicable legislations
• Creates business cases including budgeting requirements in order to identify the business need and return on investment.
• Works with members of the Cosma International Materials and Regional support teams
• Must be able to act as a technical leader for divisional ERP implementations and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Provides technical oversight of configuration changes and access impact to existing systems
• Performs quality assurance checks prior to release of configuration and changes made to MP&L /ERP systems affecting the production environment
• Continuously develops solid technical skills that will allow advancement and own personal career development within the Cosma Group
• When an issue is discovered, able to document the issue clearly for all interested parties
• Continuously challenges past practices by actively exploring and implementing new solutions and methodologies to improve the quality of our services to the company
• Promotes standardization of Materials Management and ERP processes across Cosma
• Supports divisional and regional specialists in required training for key users; that divisional key users are training divisional end-users as well in order to support during/after implementation of all process or systems initiatives.
• Be responsive and available to support Cosma divisions – periodically, will need to be available 7×24 (especially during go-live events, physical inventory events, month-end closings, etc.)
• Embraces a desire to standardize documentation that will be the basis for training materials
• Performs all job functions in a safe, healthful and environmentally conscious manner, abiding by all health, safety & environmental rules and regulations as outlined in the company handbook; abides by the office/work standards

Key Qualifications/Requirements
• Diploma in Materials Management or equivalent
• 10+ years of experience in automotive manufacturing environment in MP&L role
• 5+ years of ERP experience; preferred experience with SAP, CMS and with full lifecycle ERP implementation
• Advance user of desktop business applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, PowerBi and Visio
• Demonstrates strong ability to effectively interact and communicate with all levels of people in / out of the organization
• Must be able to facilitate and execute classroom training programs
• Must be able and willing to travel internationally and within the USA and Canada

• Embrace and work well in a team environment, as well, is able to work and learn independently with little supervision
