Role Summary
A Manufacturing Engineer (Co-op) is responsible for assisting in the design and development of manufacturing processes and systems focused on exceeding quality, cost and schedule requirements. Assist in developing and defining concepts and processes for new product and product enhancement programs. Assist in coordinating and integrating specialized processes and techniques into a lean manufacturing environment
Key Responsibilities
• Assist engineers in developing and defining concepts and manufacturing processes for all new product introductions and product enhancement programs using advanced engineering techniques.
• Assist in evaluating and implementing innovative, cost effective, safe, manufacturing processes and techniques which will improve the effectiveness of the manufacturing operations and business systems.
• Ensure all product validation testing requirements are completed per the DVP&R
• Assist in developing manufacturing planning, initial tooling requirements and costs, capability requirements, control plans, and assessments, which facilitate the definition and specification of the manufacturing processes.
• Serve as a resource for cause, effect analysis, investigations, statistical studies and corrective action planning.
• Assist in developing and implementing manufacturing flows, work station layouts and organization, which optimize value added operations, operating costs and product/process quality.
• Comply with defined Business Management and Environmental Management Systems requirements.
• Provide support for the continuous improvement initiatives within Techform.
• Provide support in the attainment of Techform’s operating system goals as outlined by the key graphs.
• Carry out all duties focusing on the goal of internal and external customer satisfaction.
• Other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor or designate.
Health and Safety Responsibilities
• Ensure all safety and non-safety rules and regulations are followed.
• Ensure adherence to established quality and housekeeping standards.
• Review and adhere to Techform’s health and safety, environmental, and quality standards, operating procedures, and policies.
• Respond immediately to items brought to his/her attention with respect to hazards, defects or non-compliance issues.
• Understand and uphold the policies that prohibit workplace violence and harassment.
• In addition to the above, the duties include those specified under the Occupational Health & Safety Act
Performance Measures
• Accurate selection of resources for program.
• Timely and open communication.
• Validation testing that complies with internal and Customer -specific requirements.
• Effective launch of equipment within budget and time constraints.
• Prioritize issues and make decisions within the guidelines of the defined business processes.
Key Qualifications/Requirements
• Post-secondary degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent is required
• New product launches and project management experience.
• Knowledge of advance quality and design techniques.
• Integrated manufacturing experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Attention to detail is key;
• Ability to use Outlook, Word, Excel, 3D viewers, and PowerPoint is required.
• An individual in this position must be capable of initiating and directing their work with minimum or no supervision.
