The Opportunity
This role is within the marketing organization of Manulife Investment Management, the global brand for the global wealth and asset management segment of Manulife Financial Corporation. Manulife Investment Management serves more than 17 million individuals, institutions, and retirement plan members by offering investment solutions across equities, fixed income, multi-asset, and private markets investments through mutual funds, ETFs, separately managed accounts, and other vehicles.
The Global Head of Content, Institutional is a pivotal leadership position that will be accountable for developing and implementing the content strategy for Manulife Investment Management’s institutional business. The role is a player-coach position where you will lead a team of writers and also be accountable for the research and writing of a broad range of investment topics for a wide spectrum of marketing, sales, and business initiatives.
The ideal candidate would have experience writing content on equities, fixed income, real assets, private credit and/or private equity targeting institutional clients – insurers, sovereign wealth funds, pensions, banks, etc. Content can vary in nature and include thought leadership, digital content, keynote addresses, social media, ads and more!
Key responsibilities:
Collaborate with portfolio teams, chief market strategists, product teams, internal and external sales, legal, compliance, fund accounting, performance, and other areas of the organization to complete assignments
Collaborate with account executives, design, digital experience, production, and analytics to complete assignments
Write clear, persuasive arguments, supported by evidence
Write first drafts across a wide variety of assignments, both short form and long form
Write copy for websites, social media, thought leadership, as well as more traditional marketing tactics, including emails, banner and print ads, video scripts, flyers, brochures, presentations, etc.
Independently research insight and data used to develop or bolster written work
Recognize and uphold the firm’s brand voice in all written communications
Utilize numerous technologies and software platforms to collaborate, write, and publish work in a fundamentally digital work environment
Develop strong working relationships with the portfolio teams and internal business partners supporting that area of work
What are we looking for
Bachelor’s Degree is required
10+ years of investment writing experience preferred
Experience working at an asset manager, industry-related news organization, or industry researcher required
Deep understanding of global financial markets and asset categories—particularly private markets and fixed income—along with the economic and behavioral forces that drive them
Deep understanding of the asset management industry, its history and current landscape, along with the forces driving its constant change
Passion for the asset management industry and a strong intellectual curiosity
Excellent organizational and prioritization skills, including the ability to meet deadlines
Attention to detail, ability to manage multiple tasks within a fast-paced environment
Resourceful researcher with strong information gathering and analytical skills
Excellent writing and verbal skills
Advanced related degrees and industry licensing a plus
Ability to interact successfully with portfolio teams and senior executives

The annual base salary for this role is listed below.

Salary range is expected to be between
$114,975.00 USD – $206,955.00 USD

The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training. Employees also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance.
