What are we looking for?
Academic Graduate caliber, with 5-7+ years plus experience in a blue chip FMCG/consumer products with a strong customer/category background.
Significant category leadership and customer development experience, with proven ability to build strong and objective customer category partnerships.
Category and customer experience with ability to engage, influence and impact customers (to senior levels) by providing guidance on strategic direction of the category.
Category Leadership expertise in Category Management practices (e.g. 8-step process, category opportunity assessment, strategies and tactics).
High analytical acumen with ability to drive and translate insights into relevant strategies and tactics (actions / initiatives) internally and for execution with our customers.
Excellent understanding of annual planning process internally (S&OP)
Experience in areas such as (but not exclusive to): Customer Management, Consumer and Customer Marketing, Shopper Insights, Digital.
Sales experience that includes selling, negotiating and leveraging insights to deliver tailored customer plans, achieving company and customer objectives and advancing category leadership.
Previous customer experience and proven ability to deliver successful solutions that cover product, placement, promotion and/ or pricing; with an excellent track record of meeting/ exceeding sales objectives.
Good interpersonal skills and proven ability to develop long term, effective and influential business relationships with key decision makers which drive mutual growth.
Experience in partnering with Category and using and deploying the fundamentals of Category Leadership, drive category growth and achieve category captaincy.
Experience in partnering with external agencies to reach mutual goals and results. Good understanding of creative briefing process and effective feedback and communication is an asset.
What will be your key responsibilities?
Lead the development and execution of the customers short and long term strategies which optimizes profitability and sales revenue and achieves company, category and customer objectives.
Develops an understanding of the customer’s environment e.g. external trends, competitors and customers current and future needs which is leveraged to build shopper centric customer plans which drive mutual growth.
Lead the development and execution of customer specific solutions e.g. assortment, merchandising, pricing and promotion which achieve customer, category and business objectives.
Drive the customer agenda and develops strong and influential relationships with key customers focused on delivering shopper, channel and category centric solutions which accelerate customer engagement.
Leverage insights to influence customers to implement solutions and identify new opportunities that will deliver results that are beneficial for both customer, category and business. Evaluates and monitors customer initiatives to drive continuous improvement, efficiency and effectiveness for both customer and company.
Manage new product launches with timely and effective execution to maximize customer impact in the marketplace.
Lead the development and delivery of short and long term customer category strategies for a specific customer to optimize profitability and sales revenues at customer and portfolio level.
Lead the customer category growth agenda, building strong and influential relationships focused on delivering shopper, channel and category centric solutions so that Mars is viewed as “THE” trusted category expert.
Use a mix of market, shopper and customer insights to identify customer growth opportunities and leverages/ executes these with high standards in all Category Leadership initiatives, tactics, practices and engages cross-functional resources to deliver the growth opportunities.
Grounded in the global category vision, executes of a clear category vision ensuring a strong understanding of the category growth drivers, role and attractiveness are well embedded as the foundation for our customer growth plans & activation.
Develop compelling insight led category solutions which influences shopper behaviour and converts more shoppers and transactions at the point of sale for the mutual benefit of the organization and our customers and identify future customer growth opportunities.
Use category management process and analytics findings as a decision platform for all initiatives designed to optimize shelving, distribution, pricing and promotional mix.
In partnership with the perfect store team, develop an integrated picture of success for assigned channel(s)/customers grounded in our global in store leadership strategies. Ensures Mars’ portfolio visibility and presence at point of purchase exceeds market share, perfect store ambitions are realized and strong and sustainable category partnerships/ captaincies are built for mutual, profitable and sustainable category growth.
Formulate appropriate planograms and assortment/distributions category and portfolio recommendations across main aisle, transaction zone and recommend relevant secondary displays tactics activation for sustainable mutual category growth, post-assessing activations with a ROI mindset to continuously raise the bar on execution and fuel growth.
Lead the creation and execution of shopper conversion programs to drive business priorities, customer strategies, and consumer behaviour. Liaise with cross functional teams and external agencies to develop retail tools, sales materials and shopper marketing materials to support activations.
