McEwen Mining Inc. has four producing mines, located in Nevada, Ontario, Mexico, and Argentina, and also has exposure to copper through its subsidiary McEwen Copper, owner of the large Los Azules copper deposit in Argentina. Underground Supervisor

Reporting to the Mine Captain, the Underground Supervisor is responsible for planning, organizing, leading, and the primary control of safe daily development, production, and construction activities in an efficient manner on a given shift. They will comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations, and with all Company Policies and Procedures to ensure a safe and healthy work environment. Other duties will be assigned as per operational needs.

The list of duties and responsibilities below is not exclusive or exhaustive, and the employee will be required to undertake such duties as may reasonably be expected within the scope of the position. All employees are required to be professional, cooperative, and flexible in line with the requirements of the position.

Operational / Technical Execution

• Advise and instruct employees on various safety related topics, such as noise levels, proper use of machinery, and emergency procedures.
• Monitor compliance with safety guidelines.
• Enforce company safety policies and procedures.
• Recommend preventive measures to minimize risks.
• Regularly inspect premises, work activities, and equipment to ensure safety standards are met.
• Collaborate with relevant teams to address safety concerns.
• Conduct informal and formal inspections with coaching for improvement.
• Inform and receive information from and to crews and technical services about production/development and construction priorities.
• Plan and organize all development, production, and construction on the given shift in a proactive manner.
• Assist the crew in planning the work for the upcoming shift, following your own.
• Ensure acceptable productivity levels in tons, long hole blasting and development to meet weekly mining schedules.
• Provide professional and technical support, sharing knowledge to support mine and plant projects as required.
• Anticipate technical problems. Stay current with and open to new technologies.
• Maintain inventory and provide on-the-job input and constructive feedback regarding team-member performance including positive reinforcement and recognition as well as correcting negative behavior in a constructive manner.

General Administration and Controls

• Conduct and encourage participation in all safety meetings.
• Follow all company policies and standards.
• Understand and apply safe work practices.
• Ensures all of McEwen Mining safety rules, regulations, and policies are being followed by all personnel when entering site.
• Provide technical support and expertise to mine and project planning.
• Complete report on findings and promptly & appropriately follow up on safety concerns.
• Inform the captain about issues as needed, including preparing required reports.
• Maintain and develop technical and management skills and knowledge. Solicit and follow up on ideas from employees.
• Explain/support company policies, procedures, and standards.
• Lead by example, provide guidance, coach, and motivate crews to work safely and productively.
• Maintain good relationships and promote positive attitude of employees.
• Evaluate and maintain work standards.
• Process departmental documentation in a timely manner such as completing timesheets and tracking vacation and banked time. Administer policies found in the Employee Handbook, such as absenteeism and discipline policies.

Qualifications and Skills Requirement:

• Valid Driver’s License
• Able to work shift work.
• Maintain a high level of housekeeping in work areas.
• Strong leadership and organizational skills.
• Competency with Ontario Mining Act and Regulations
• Supervisors Common Core (within 12 months of job role)
• Minimum of five years of related underground experience.
