About The Position
The LMS Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting our Moodle Learning Management System to ensure an effective and efficient online learning environment for our students/employees and support custom course creation to create interactive content. You will work closely with instructors, instructional designers, IT administrators, program managers, and other stakeholders to optimize the use of Moodle and support the organization’s e-learning initiatives. This role will interest someone who has both LMS and instructional design experience. It is a perfect fit for someone who is a creative thinker, process-oriented, has good organizational skills, and has above-average knowledge of learning management systems.
Responsibilities
LMS Administration
- Maintain the Moodle platform to meet the organization’s educational needs while providing support for training programs and initiatives.
- Monitor LMS and course performance and address performance-related concerns.
- Further advance the functionality and usability of the LMS. Collaborate with instructors to maintain course materials and manage course enrollments.
- Conduct regular quality checks to ensure the integrity of course content and functionality.
- Provide training and guidance to instructors, students, and other LMS users on Moodle features and best practices.
- Support program events, admissions, documentation, and other program-related activities as needed.
Instructional Design
- Conduct needs assessments to identify learning objectives and goals for specific training programs.
- Support custom course creation by creating interactive and multimedia content while utilizing adult learning principles.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to gather content and ensure accuracy.
- Monitor individual deliverables and provide relevant and timely reporting on the training status, progress, and established KPI’s.
- Design and deploy course evaluations, monitor results, and formulate recommendations based on participant feedback within Moodle.
Qualifications:
- A degree or diploma preferably in a discipline related to Learning and Development or Adult Education.
- 2-3 years of adult education experience including instructional design coupled with 2-3 years’ experience in LMS administration or a similar role.
- 2-3 years’ experience with a Learning Management System (experience with Moodle is considered an asset).
- Demonstrated understanding of adult learning principles.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with Articulate 360, SCORM files, h5p content, and activities within the LMS.
- Previous experience with course-authoring applications and tools.
- Having a basic knowledge of HTML is an asset.
- Experience preparing and conducting LMS training.
- Previous experience collaborating and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong problem solving, analytical, and technical troubleshooting skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- High attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Previous experience working with newcomers, non-profit organizations, or within an educational setting is an asset.
- Sound understanding of diversity and cultural sensitivity to identify and remove barriers that may prevent program participants from reaching their full learning potential/goals.
