We are currently looking a Head of PPA to join our M Renewables team as we prepare for our upcoming launch in Calgary, Canada. The Head of PPA & Energy Origination – North America is a new role created to support our rapidly growing activities across the North America region (Canada, Mexico, US, and Central America).

The successful candidate’s task will be to source PPA & Energy solutions for our current projects in Alberta, Canada as well as for our future projects in that jurisdiction and other markets in the North America region. The role is critical to advance and support the existing and future portfolio in Canada and other markets in the North America Region.

The position also entails taking a prominent role in supporting the regional development team’s efforts to expand Mytilineos’ presence in the PV, Wind, Storage, and green hydrogen / green ammonia markets in the region.

Market Expertise

Your role will encompass:

• Deep knowledge of Alberta (AESO) and Canadian energy markets

PPA Origination And Execution

• Originating, structuring, negotiating, and executing utility and corporate PPAs
• Ongoing management of existing PPAs and merchant energy opportunities

Transaction Understanding

• Understanding of energy and capacity transactions including bespoke virtual and physical PPAs, Corporate PPAs and ISDA.
• Familiarity with PPAs tendered in competitive public/private power auction processes

Strategic Focus And Risk Mitigation

• Discipline in maintaining PPA and Energy strategy focus
• Identifying, quantifying, and mitigating risks while seizing opportunities
• Knowledge of credit and market risk

Networking And Communication

• Extensive network in North American PPA/energy markets, including participation in trade associations, industry groups and professional networks..
• Proven ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
• Identify, negotiate with, appoint, and manage any third-party PPA advisors (commercial, market/regulatory).

Market Intelligence

• Building and maintaining an up to date knowledge of the PPA market in active countries in the North America region, including PPA providers, competitor activity, market prices and products/structures available in the market.

Leadership Qualities

• Ability to work autonomously or as a team leader.
• Diligence, execution-focus, and a results-oriented mindset.

What You Bring To The Role

• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a PPA origination role, preferably in the utility scale solar PV and/or wind industry
• Experience in utility scale storage an advantage.
• Proven track record of originating, structuring, negotiating, and executing both utility and corporate PPA agreements in various energy markets. In particular, knowledge and prior experience in the Alberta (AESO) and other Canadian markets would be an advantage.
• Prior knowledge and or experience in green hydrogen / ammonia is a plus.
• Working in a multinational environment
• Strong commercial delivery mindset.
• Strong negotiation skills.
