SUMMARY:
The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic team that acts as a business partner driving financial goals alignment and optimal operational execution. Providing Operations Finance support including operational data analysis, cost measurement and control, financial results analysis, forecasting, and budgeting.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Financial Closing
· Participating in the month end closing process – ensuring month end entries are processed accurately and on a timely basis
· Perform account reconciliations, account analysis, accrual calculations, and other related accounting documents/schedules
· Partner with operations to ensure all revenue and costs are accurately recorded by division and by site
· Analyze results and clearly communicate key drivers of variances to prior year and plan numbers
Operations Finance Support
· Grow financial performance through analysis of financial results, forecasts, variances, and trends
· Identify and drive process improvements. This includes but not limited to the creation of reports, tools, and dashboards
· Assist with the development, documentation, and implementation of effective controls, policies, and procedures
Budgeting/Forecasting
· Maintain a strong financial analysis foundation by tracking data trends for creating forecasts and models
· Perform financial forecasting, reporting, and operational metrics tracking
Special Projects / Financial Support
· Participate in special projects to improve process efficiency and performance
· Participate in systems migrations, implementations, and other IT projects
· Financial modelling for new business opportunities
· Ad-hoc tasks as required
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE:
· Bachelor’s degree in relevant business field or equivalent experience in Operations Finance at a transportation or logistics company
· System Implementation experience is preferred
· Process documentation/mapping experience is an asset
· Minimum 5+ years of experience in finance and accounting
· Final stages in the CPA program
· Advanced Excel skills (e.g. Power Pivot) is essential
· Working knowledge of Vena and Power BI is an asset
· Experience with ERP system is essential. Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics is an asset
· Problem solver with the ability to analyze and prioritize to meet business objectives
· Excellent interpersonal skills, a team player collaborating with others to drive to a solution
· Strong oral and written communication skills
· Working knowledge of transportation management system (TMS) software is an asset
