MicroAge Kitchener Looking for Desktop Support Engineer at Guelph, ON Full Time

MicroAge Kitchener is seeking a Desktop Support Technician to join our IT Services team assisting clients in the Kitchener/Waterloo/Guelph/Milton area.

MicroAge provides managed services, system integration services, DELL and Microsoft technology solutions, Microsoft ERP and CRM support to clients within 50 km of our Cambridge Ontario offices. The Desktop Technician position is for support in zone from Guelph and East towards Georgetown. The technician may work in Mississauga or Brampton occasionally. The candidate may provide backup for staff west of Guelph as well.

• A car allowance or compensation for use of your own vehicle is provided if working at remote locations.
• Standard employee benefits are available after 3 months.
• Owning your own vehicle is required.
• A laptop will be provided.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Act as point of contact for desktop and laptop support and troubleshooting for a key Managed Service client.
• Install, configure and upgrade operating systems and software, using standard business and administrative packages using Imaging, deployment software and methodologies
• Install, and configure computers, monitors, network infrastructure and peripherals such as printers, scanners and related hardware.
• Pull cables and rewires or direct the rewiring of cables as required for new installations and office reconfiguration.
• Troubleshoot problems with computer systems, including hardware and software issues, emails, network and peripheral equipment problems, etc. Make repairs and corrections where required.
• Assist with training staff in the use of standard business and administrative software, including Microsoft Office 365 products.
• Support customers with Office 365 components such as SharePoint On-Line, Dynamics CRM/Dynamics 365, Word, Excel, Outlook
• Work with third party vendors to resolve hardware, software and network issues as required.
• Communicate changes, fixes and processes to management and peers
• Perform any other duties as assigned.

Experience, Skills & Competencies

• Professional Information Technology designation required (A+, MCP)
• Minimum 2 years of experience working in Technical Support, with broad exposure to a variety of software and hardware technologies, or equivalent experience
• Experience working with remote management (RMM) software is an asset
• Network Designation such as Network+ or MCSA is an asset

• Experience configuring Mobile Devices, Apple products, Google products
• Excellent prioritizing and communication skills
• Strong customer service skills

Work hours will be 8am to 5pm at our customer location in Guelph ON and/or Georgetown ON.

Salary: $17.00-$35.00 per hour
