Location: Hybrid in Vancouver or Remote within Canada.
The Role…
Monstercat is looking for a Technology Team Lead to lead and develop our in-house team of committed developers and testers to deliver our technology roadmap and maintain and support our services to partners and internal staff. You will have extensive experience in agile delivery management, resource and capacity management both of internal teams and by commissioning external resources and suppliers to build skills and capacity, where needed. You will ensure that we have the fit-for-purpose, secure, efficient and innovative infrastructure and applications to support the needs of the organization and our customers. You are accountable for the technical assurance of our in-house platforms and services. You will drive the ways of working in our development processes, improving the quality of our technical solutions and ensuring we can deliver value as early as possible using a range of methodologies.
What you’ll do…
Strategy Dev and Roadmap:
- Assist in the planning and prioritizing of resources across the Technology team to ensure an effective balance between our project delivery and ongoing maintenance and support of our platforms and services
- Work collaboratively with the staff (and partners), where relevant, at all levels across the organization to ensure that our digital and technology services and products are customer-led, cost-effective, scalable, easy to use and meet current and future needs
- Further develop our capability, processes and team structures in managing change, agile software development and rapid deployment, cyber security, data management and service management
Delivery and Assurance:
- Ensure that a clear vision and delivery plan for our technology services is communicated to all staff and that ongoing delivery is transparent and well-communicated across the business and that all dependencies and risk are well managed
- Ensure teams /squads are well-balanced and have (or have access to) the correct technical skills to succeed
- Develop, resource, maintain and deliver a backlog of development requests to support funded projects, transformation, continuous improvement and maintenance of our systems
- Plan and communicate the technical release plan, ensuring dev teams and stakeholders are advised and contribute
- Proactively removing impediments to productivity and progress toward continuous deployment
- Ensure that key business owners and users are actively involved in the design development and testing of solutions
- Encourage controlled innovation in the delivery of both technology and processes
- Accountable for the technical assurance of our in-house solutions (Label Manager) and the solutions and services from outsourced suppliers and contractors if required
Service Management:
- Ensure that our key technology services are resilient, secure and scalable and that our cyber security, software development, support processes and systems are constantly improved in line with ISO standards
- Develop a technology service desk with responsibility for, amongst others, Incident Management, Operational Security, and development & maintenance of applications and our infrastructure.
- Lead on the technical aspects of our business continuity
Leadership
- Provide overall technical leadership and direction to the organization and the technology team, encouraging controlled innovation and improvement in the technology and data systems, processes and ways of working
- Take strategic oversight of a critical project on behalf of the SMT/Leadership team
- Drive change in the organization in embedding Agile and Lean techniques that work across the whole business
- Contribute to the leadership of Monstercat by actively working with other heads and Directors on strategy development, performance management, delivering what we say we will, role-modelling and championing our values and behaviours both internally and externally
- Role model our values and lead the development of our culture in your team
- Develop clear systems and expectations so the team can understand stand who is ownership and accountability over various projects and tasks
About You…
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or minimum of seven years’ work experience
- Advanced understanding of the product and technology stack
- Advanced troubleshooting & debugging skills
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, including the ability to translate technical speak to plain language and the reverse
- The ability to lead and motivate others
- A clear understanding of the wider business, business goals, and problems the software is solving
- The ability to translate business terms into technical terms
- Good understanding of digital music technology
