What will you be doing?
Reporting to the Controller, the Senior Accountant possesses comprehensive financial accounting and reporting subject matter expertise, and is responsible for the end-to-end process cycle of transactions including compliance with applicable legislative and regulatory requirements, and internal business policies.
Key position responsibilities include:
Financial Accounting – prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and analysis to ensure financial transactions are complete, correct, and compliant with IFRS accounting standards, other applicable legislation, and internal policies/ charts of accounts.
Variance Analysis – analyze month end financial results for assigned business partners and assess impacts to annual plans and strategies, including the identification of risks and opportunities, and recommendations for course corrections as required.
Budgets and Projections – support the planning process by working closely with business partners to ensure compliance to IFRS. Validate assumptions, analyze results, and provide recommendations on alignment to corporate goals, KPIs, and risks and opportunities.
Fixed Assets, Leases and Project Accounting Subject Matter Expert – maintain completeness and accuracy of associated financial statement results and reporting.
Reporting – prepare and review internal and external reports and requests for information.
Financial System Super-User – maintain super-user knowledge of applicable financial systems to ensure optimized processes and efficiencies; troubleshoot and problem solve as required; recommend and implement solutions and best practises, ensuring adherence to accounting standards and relevant internal policies.
Compliance and Documentation – ensure all policies, standards, and processes are compliant, accurate, and documented; review, analyze and action change to align with emerging standards and legislation changes to ensure appropriate and correct recognition.
What do you need to be successful?
Post-secondary degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA designation preferred
5+ years of progressive experience in a related accounting role
Ability to coach and develop others
Effective time management, organizational, and prioritization skills
Creative problem solver with critical thinking skills
High level of accuracy and attention to detail; strong writing skills
Customer service focus
Confidentiality and discretion
It would be fantastic if you also had:
Experience working under IFRS legislation
Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics GP and Microsoft Dynamics 365
Language competencies:
Bilingualism in both official languages is an asset, but not required
Location:
Reporting into the ANBL Retail Operations Centre in Fredericton, New Brunswick
Remote or hybrid work arrangements will be considered
