About Us
At the Newfoundland and Labrador Centre for Health Information (the Centre) we provide quality information to health professionals, the public, researchers, and health system decision makers. Through collaboration with the health system, we support the development of data and technical standards, maintain key health databases, carry out analytics and evaluation and support health research. We support the regional health authorities, as well as the patients and communities they serve, in the delivery of information technology (IT) and eHealth services applied in the healthcare system to provide quality care. Our mandate also includes the development and implementation of a confidential and secure provincial electronic health record as well as other provincial clinical information programs, including the change management required to support adoption by end user clinicians
About the Role
We are currently looking for a Communications Specialist to join our Corporate Services team. In this position you will be accountable for the promotion of the Newfoundland and Labrador Centre for Health Information and its activities by participating in research, analysis, planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of the Centre’s communications policies, initiatives, and strategies. The scope of responsibility for this position is broad, including internal and external communications, with a focus on stakeholder relations, media relations, and public relations. You will work across departments and will be an important member of several Centre teams and committees, including project-specific and change management teams.
About You
Your education and experience include:
- Degree or diploma in Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, or another related field
- Experience facilitating communication between multiple parties
- Experience in media relations
- Experience in project management
- Experience writing, designing, and delivering a range of communication materials across different mediums that is tailored for the appropriate audience (i.e., Email, social media, Websites, Media Releases, Marketing Platforms, etc.)
- Minimum five years’ experience in Communications/Public Relations
You have the following skills and abilities:
- Thorough knowledge of communications and public relations strategies and best practices and how they contribute to business outcomes, especially in times of change
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships
- Strong organizational, planning and time management skills.
- Ability to research, develop and write original work and the ability write, edit and proofread the work of others
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal skills with experience facilitating communication between many parties by supporting change management initiatives and enabling knowledge transfer between stakeholders.
- Commitment to and knowledge of the principles of privacy, confidentiality, and access.
- Ability to work independently with staff and stakeholders in a professional manner
It would be an asset if you have the following:
- International Association of Business Communicators Accreditation
- Knowledge of the provincial health care environment and eHealth
- Knowledge of website maintenance, marketing, and graphic design
- Experience with event planning
Demonstrated equivalencies may be considered.
