About Us
At the Newfoundland and Labrador Centre for Health Information (the Centre) we provide quality information to health professionals, the public, researchers, and health system decision makers. Through collaboration with the health system, we support the development of data and technical standards, maintain key health databases, carry out analytics and evaluation and support health research. We support the regional health authorities, as well as the patients and communities they serve, in the delivery of information technology (IT) and eHealth services applied in the healthcare system to provide quality care. Our mandate also includes the development and implementation of a confidential and secure provincial electronic health record as well as other provincial clinical information programs, including the change management required to support adoption by end user clinicians
About the Role
We are currently looking for a Manager of Privacy and Information Management. In this role you will:
- Establish and maintain an organization-wide privacy program.
- Lead and manage work performed by the Privacy team, as well as provide advice and guidance to all Centre staff on matters related to privacy and information management.
- Be responsible for establishing privacy and information management standards for the Centre’s corporate operations, the provincial EHR and EMR, and other provincial eHealth projects.
- Act as a privacy liaison with external stakeholders including the Regional Health Authorities and the Department of Health and Community Services.
- Develop strategic plans that are intended to incrementally mature the Centre’s privacy and information management culture and advance the organization’s overall corporate objectives.
- Be responsible for the assessment and management of risks to privacy and information management, as well as compliance with provincial and federal legislation, Centre policies and best practices.
- Ensure resource management of the Privacy team.
- Participate in, and lead, incident management activities, in line with Centre protocol.
About You
Your education and experience include:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Minimum of five years’ combination of equivalent education, job-related training and experience in the privacy and information management field.
You have the following skills and abilities:
- Superior communication (written and verbal), organizational and time management skills.
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills in a client service environment.
- Familiarity with all federal and provincial laws concerning information security, information management, and privacy.
- Ability to demonstrate knowledge of information privacy issues and information systems.
- Ability to understand and communicate technical and legal information.
- Demonstrated analytical, advisory, and leadership skills.
It would be an asset if you have the following:
- Knowledge of provincial health care environment
- Knowledge of IT environment
- Privacy certification(s) such as:
- University of Alberta Information Access and Protection of Privacy Certificate Program
- International Association of Privacy Professionals Certified Information Privacy Professional
- Canadian Association of Professional Access and Privacy Administrators Access and Privacy Professional Certification
Demonstrated equivalencies may be considered.
