About the Team:

The Corporate Development team explores opportunities for growth and development including regional strategies, M&A, joint ventures and frontier business lines and service offerings. As part of this team, you will work closely with senior leadership across the organization and have regular interaction with our President & Chief Development Officer, our Chief Financial Officer and our Managing Director, Ontario Region.

Purpose of the Role::

With your strong analytical, communication, and networking skills, you’re the trusted righthand to our Managing Director, Ontario Region as you work closely together to achieve the growth targets of the region. As a seasoned and sophisticated business professional with over a decade of progressive experience, you’re able to work through abstract business initiatives and develop a clear strategy for execution. You’ll build and pull on many levers and relationships, both internally and externally, to set and achieve objectives.

You will develop a sophisticated understanding of our business model and participate in strategizing with senior and executive leadership. Internally, you will collaborate across all business groups and actively engage with internal committees such as our Social Committee, Wellness Committee, Inclusion Committee, Ambassadors, and Nicola Gives Back. Externally, you are a company brand ambassador and leading influencer developing and nurturing professional relationships and community networks. This dynamic role is a perfect fit for a high-energy, outgoing, relationship builder with an analytical mind for business.

This position is based in our Toronto, ON office and supports a hybrid work model.

Core Responsibilities:

• Set objectives, develop, and write annual business plans in collaboration with senior management across the organization.
• Drive the creation and ongoing governance of KPIs for measuring and evaluating regional performance across the business resulting in enhanced engagement in, and ownership of, high performance.
• Coordinate, plan, and develop agendas, as well as internal communications, related to Ontario growth to promote alignment with internal stakeholders.
• Build, develop, and maintain relationships with colleagues at all levels across business groups including Advisory Services, Marketing, People and Culture, and Asset Management.
• Coordinate monthly management reporting and quarterly business reviews; breaking down strategic problems and analyzing data to provide insights and recommendations and manage follow-up actions.
• Inform and manage Ontario regional budget for people initiatives and business development.
• Provide research, analytics, and business support to a variety of special projects, including marketing, business development, new services and products, and recruitment.
• Monitor industry developments, trends, and market intelligence; perform benchmarking analysis and peer comparison.
• Increase Nicola Wealth brand awareness and client base by attending industry conferences and external events, developing new relationships with prospective clients and centers of influence.
• Lead and participate in department talent and culture initiatives.
• Other relevant and related responsibilities, as assigned and as the needs of the organization change.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• 10+ years of progressive business experience in financial services.
• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, accounting, economics, investments, or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated ability to build strong connections with peers and interact successfully with senior business partners and regional functions.
• Strong project management skills including ability to work in a dynamic and fast paced, deadline driven environment while focusing on complex tasks for long periods of time with competing priorities and deadlines.
• Ability to work under pressure while producing and reviewing detailed work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Advanced analytical and research skills, financial and other, critical strategic thinking, and problem-solving abilities to propose and implement solutions.
• Exceptionally strong presentation skills, both written and verbal, with confidence and ability to communicate clearly and present in front of senior audiences.
• Excellent influencing skills, including ability to work effectively across a large organization, execute projects, and build and manage cross-functional relationships while able to directly address conflicts and escalate issues where appropriate.
• You are legally eligible to work in Canada for any employer.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• Relevant industry designations are preferred.
• Experience as a consultant responsible for building and launching business strategies.

Compensation & Benefits Package:

This position comes with a competitive base salary hiring range of $95,000-$135,000, dependent on experience, skills, qualifications and internal equity.
