The Role and Opportunity
We are looking for someone with Human Resources experience to assist the HR Manager with people and culture activities and programs. You will participate in weekly and monthly scheduled meetings with shareholders, senior and middle management as well as your own team to discuss business and people goals.
You are self-motivated, driven, and action-oriented. As an HR Assistant, you will get to dive into various aspects of HR, including but not limited to recruitment, employee relations, training and development, compensation, occupational health and safety, organizational development, conflict resolution, etc.
Responsibilities
- Support with Onboarding of all new hires, and offboarding of exiting employees.
- Support HR Manager with Recruitment efforts, employee site changes, and labour planning
- Be part of the H&S committee, in addition to assisting with various other H&S needs in conjunction with the Safety Officer (disability management, return to work, accommodations, etc.)
- Be the primary point of contact for Nightingale employees to assist with HR needs, including but not limited to Payroll, Benefits, Employee Relations, Events, Etc.
- Work with Payroll in tracking of apprentice hours and reporting to ITA
- Identify training & development needs, in addition to assisting with enrollment of employees into site training
- Assist with various administrative tasks:
- Monthly Newsletter
- Weekly Labour Reports
- HRIS update
- Events planning and roll out
- Tracking of new hires, terminations, injuries, etc.
Qualifications
- Post-Secondary Education specializing in HR preferred
- 1 year experience in HR an asset
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal English communication skills
- Strong business correspondence writing skills
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment, and deliver timely results
- Positive and professional team attitude
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Strong attention to detail and time management/organizational skills
- Leadership and customer service experience an asset
- Strong proficiency in MS Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
