We are seeking a Director (or Senior Manager) of Human Resources for our restaurant group. Reporting to the President & COO of Northland Restaurant Group, this pivotal role will lead all aspects of HR including talent acquisition, onboarding/offboarding, employee retention, performance management, reporting, compliance, and employee relations.
Primary Responsibilities
Work with leaders across the company to shape our culture and promote/embed our core values into all programs, systems and processes.
Develop, lead, and support the delivery of HR systems such as recruitment, onboarding/offboarding, performance management, and employee engagement.
Evaluate the talent landscape and develop recruitment strategies to attract top talent.
Practice effective situation/conflict management, working closely with leaders to ensure employee relations concerns are handled with care, professionalism and timeliness, while minimizing risks to the business.
Provide coaching and resources to team members and managers with respect to career development, staffing initiatives, performance management and employee relations.
Conduct workplace investigations.
Provide advice, support and coaching to leaders and employees as required.
Conduct store visits to earn trust, identify gaps and assess culture.
Support employee assessments and succession planning.
Complete annual compensation reviews and present recommendations to business leaders.
Evaluate individual and organizational development needs and develop/oversee programs to close skills gaps.
Introduce new human resources programs in support of Company strategy.
Contribute to Company strategy as a senior leader.
Maintain HR systems to ensure accurate, relevant and streamlined reporting.
Routinely evaluate the effectiveness of HR programs and systems, and continuously improve to provide maximum return on investment.
Ensure compliance to employment laws and practices.
Keep current with trends, best practices and new technologies in human resources
Lead a passionate team of human resources professionals: establish direction and set objectives, assess performance, and implement development plans for direct reports.
Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
At least 9 years of progressive HR leadership experience.
Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration or a related field.
Experience within the hospitality industry is an asset.
CPHR designation is an asset.
Very strong service-orientation.
Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and professionalism.
Ability to solve problems in a logical manner while anticipating and planning for potential roadblocks.
Ability to adapt with urgency to changing work environments, work priorities and organization needs.
Ability to liaise and form positive relationships with all levels of employees and management.
High level of organization: the ability to scale up, manage large projects and work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Strong management skills, including HR, financial management, planning, system transformation and program evaluation.
Strong leadership skills, including the ability to collaborate closely with the leadership team, achieve results and change established systems.
Demonstrated experience in project management and budgeting.
Experience in applying creative solutions to address HR challenges while supporting the organization’s objectives.
Effective written and verbal communication skills and strong ability to build relationships.
A leader in professional ethics and organizational values.
Excellent computer skills including proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
Strong working knowledge of human resources and its systems and processes.
Some travel required.
