Know our team

Nutrition International’s Corporate Services (CS) unit is a dedicated team of Finance and Administrative experts with extensive global experience. The unit leads on providing global Accounting, Fie, Budget, Compliance, Contracting and Procurement, Facilities management, and Information Management and Information Technology (IM/IT). Currently, Nutrition International is seeking applications for a Senior Finance Officer to be based in Ottawa, Canada.

About you

You are someone with a degree in accounting, finance, or business or enrolled in the CPA program or equivalent experience. You have a minimum of four years of experience in accounting and finance, and two years in a leading role preferably in an NGO. You are someone with great communication, and leadership skills, and a team player. You have great analytical, technical, and professional knowledge of finance and accounting. You are organized, flexible, proficient in handling multiple tasks, and comfortable with reporting in any ad hoc situation. Fluency in English is required. Your fluency in French and professional accreditation (CPA/CGA/CMA) will be considered an asset.

About the role

You will be reporting to Finance Manager, Corporate Accounting. In this role, we are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Finance Officer to join our team. The overall purpose of the position is to supervise the work of the Finance Officers and assist the Finance Manager, Corporate Accounting with all corporate accounting and reporting requirements by providing financial analysis and technical support.

Key duties and responsibilities:

• Ensure accurate and timely financial information, reports, and payments.
• Prepare higher level analysis for month-end closing Journal entries.
• Review and post weekly and monthly Accounts Payable and other Journal Entries.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reports and analyses.
• Review and post general ledger accounts and bank reconciliations.
• Liaise and support the overall corporate accounting requirements of HQ, country, and regional offices.
• Review and approve wire transfers and other payments.
• Ensure appropriate resolution regarding payment issues, including initiating and tracking wire traces and recalls.
• Review cash flow requirement submissions from HQ and regional offices.
• Assist and/or prepare account analysis, reconciliations, and working papers related to various external audits both on a consolidated basis and/or for the country and regional offices as required.
• Support and assist with training related to accounting system – MS Dynamics GP.
• Provide input into the development of policies and procedures.
• Contribute to the standardization of tasks, understanding the workflow, and identifying opportunities for improvement.
• Prepare ad hoc reports as required.
• Direct supervision and oversight over the work done by the Finance Officers, including mid-year and year-end performance reviews.
