JOB SUMMARY

The Accounting Manager reports directly to the Director of Finance and is responsible for direct involvement in and oversight of preparation and analysis of monthly financial statements, planning, product costings and collaborating with other managers and employees. This position is responsible for ensuring that all vendor payments are made in a timely manner, working with external accountants to prepare and file annual tax returns, and ensuring that the day-to-day financial transactions are recorded in the ERP system and that all accounts are reconciled.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership

• Follows all policies, procedures, and practices for a smooth operation
• Participate, collaborate and communicate with your team members to ensure a caring and supportive work environment is achieved

Daily Accounting

• Prepare and submit all required government filings and remittances (GST returns, annual returns etc.)
• Ensures compliance with corporate accounting policies and procedures, including internal controls
• Record day to day financial transactions and complete bank reconciliations, monthly journal entries and account reconciliations
• Complete all invoicing, collection and accounts receivable responsibilities ensuring that cash flow is optimized
• Complete supplier and customer set up, invoice processing and approval, payment and accounts payable responsibilities including reconciling corporate credit card statements

Financial Reporting

• Completes month end closing and applicable reconciliations including preparation of monthly financial statements for both Canadian and US entity
• Prepare year-end working papers for US and Canadian entity and coordinate with external accountants for the preparation and filing of the tax return for both entities
• Supports top and middle management decisions through the maintenance of managerial accounting information systems and the provision of financial expertise

Costings

• Assist in the development, control and maintenance of cost accounting systems
• Performs cost accounting duties to support the development of new products and provide analysis to evaluate revenues, margin effectiveness and EBIDTA results.
• Analyze variances across balance sheet and income statement accounts

Other

• Attend meetings with senior management and other management personnel as required
• Any and all other relevant duties as assigned

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business or related field from an accredited university
• CPA designation preferred
• 5+ years of accounting experience
• 2+ years of cost accounting experience working within a Food & Beverage manufacturing environment preferred
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Commitment to quality and delivery to internal and external customers
• Able to multi-task and resolve conflicting priorities in an extremely fast-paced environment
• Ability to set priorities and deadlines and meet those commitments
• Communicate clearly and provide updates and progress reports on activities
• Excellent analytical / problem solving skills
• Experience with ERP information systems for finance and accounting and Excel (computer proficient)

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Full time position requiring flexible schedule as required at 40 hours a week
• This positioned will be based in the Metro Vancouver area
