The Role
We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Project Manager for various projects in Alberta and British Columbia. Project details will vary based on site locations. Rates and allowances will also vary based on the location of the project.
Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Project Manager, the Assistant Project Manager will be responsible for assisting the Project Manager in Engineering Review, Project Controls, and Contract Management Activities prior to and upon contract award. The Assistant Project Manager will be a point of contact with the client and an assistant lead to the Construction Management Team.
Engineering Review
Facilitating collaborative reviews of all engineering packages and drawings to develop a defined project scope.
Providing technical support in the development of the Construction Execution Plan (CEP).
Reviewing all discipline specific requirements with the onsite Quality Department.
Providing technical support in the development of Change Proposals and Trends through knowledge of industrial standards and codes such as ASME, ABSA, and CSA.
Planning
Developing budgetary estimates and high level schedules for projects based on preliminary information provided by the client
Assisting the corporate estimating team to gather information and provide constructability guidance to develop proposals for projects on site
Project Controls and Contract Management Activities
Supporting the Project Manager in:
Document Control
Assist in supervising all document control activities, including customer/client documentation, internal documentation, drawing & specifications, documentation relevant to regulatory bodies and document distribution.

Requirements
Minimum of 5 years of field based experience as a project coordinator/manager in the oil sands or other heavy industrial facilities
P.Tech or P.Eng. preferred
PMP Certification Preferred But Not Required.
On-site brownfield plant experience in mechanical, structural, piping and electrical disciplines.
Experience in production scheduling and labour budget preparation.
Advanced knowledge of computer software such as Bluebeam, Microsoft Project or Primavera
A demonstrated background in project management and cost control.
