Ottawa Senators Hockey Club Looking for Senior Staff Accountant, Sensplex Facilities at Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Full Time

The primary function of the Senior Staff Accountant – Sensplexes is to ensure financial reporting and analysis for Ottawa Community Ice Partners (operating as Bell Sensplex and Richcraft Sensplex) and West Carleton Community Complex (operating as Cavanagh Sensplex) is accurately prepared on a monthly basis. This position will also assist with upgrades to accounting systems, technologies and financial statement report writing within the accounting system.

Main Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial statements for Bell Sensplex, Richcraft Sensplex and Cavanagh Sensplex
• Manage revenue and expense recognition
• Preparation of monthly accounting reconciliations for more complicated financial statement accounts (e.g., intercompany, deferred revenue, payroll, revenues and expenses)
• Preparation of monthly internal financial analysis and reporting including revenue and expense variations to budget or forecast
• Provide analysis/insight related to monthly business results for specific departments
• Assist in the annual audit process by preparing working papers and related analysis
• Assist in the preparation of quarterly forecasts
• Assist in the annual budget process including detailed financial analysis
• Project lead, or assist with accounting system and technology upgrades
• Participation in various other special projects as required
• Maintain adherence to financial policies, procedures and internal controls
• Other duties as assigned by the Accounting Manager

Requirements

• CPA with a minimum of 3 years of related accounting experience OR Honours Degree in Accounting with a minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, OR Full Charge Bookkeeper with 7-10 years of relevant experience
• Strong technical ability and ability to work independently and find solutions to complex issues
• Advanced Excel formula skills
• Must be detail oriented and process driven with strong organizational and analytical skills
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills and an ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of the business in English
• Ability to meet tight timelines and work under pressure, while adapting to changing priorities
• Ability to work independently and equally well in a team
• Knowledge of fund accounting and ASPE (asset)
• Experience with a mid-level ERP system (asset)
• Experience with accounting system upgrade or projects to improve processes or technologies within the accounting department (asset)
