Position Overview
The Head Teacher role at Panda Mandarin is a senior role and a member of our Core Team. The position is responsible for:
· Leading the development and continuous improvement of our Panda Mandarin curriculum, teaching methodology, teacher training, and curriculum delivery
· Owning the recruiting, training, and management of our teacher pipeline to address the business’ expansion
· Teaching key classes based on assignment and schedule
· Representing our school and be an inspiring Panda Mandarin teacher & leader to our students and staff
· Working closely with the other Core Team members to accomplish our goals
Job Responsibilities and Tasks
Teacher Management
· Recruitment and training of new teaching team members
· Manage teacher salary grid, contracts, and invoices
· Supervision, training and scheduling of Panda Mandarin’s teaching team
· Create and implement instructional policies and procedures (eg, online & in-person classroom procedures, offline teaching activities,
· Implement teacher evaluation process and ensure a consistent teaching standard is followed by all teachers
· Coordinate team-building events/activities on a monthly basis
· Conduct research into language education and newest teaching methodologies, content, and technologies
Head Teacher
· Curriculum plan and development – improve upon existing and creation of new curriculum
· Design all lesson plans and teaching materials for core and summer programs
· Curriculum updates and evaluation
· Develops content for the year-end Showcase and other events as required
· Teach key classes and locations
· Implement student evaluation process
· Foresee and estimate student need’s and ensure quality programming is relevant
Administration
· Maintain relationships with school locations and monitor set-up and closing procedures
· Special events support – attending and planning
· Assist Director with organizational administrative duties as required
· Support other core team members as back-up – including but limited to social media, marketing, parent communication, etc.
· Document standard operating procedures (SOPs) required for the teaching team
Skills & Qualifications
· Post-graduate degree in relevant field (Bachelor of Education, Bachelor of Teaching)
· Minimum of 3 years experience in supervision and/or teaching
· A good understanding of how social media and digital content/technologies play a role in education
· Proficiency in computer skills (Google Suite, Microsoft Office)
· Fluent in English and Mandarin (with an emphasis on Simplified Chinese characters)
· Excellent oral and written communication skills
· Strong organizational skills with ability to juggle multiple priorities
· Ability to work individually and as part of a team
Other
· Valid work permit to work in Canada required
· Successful applicant must provide a recent Vulnerable Sector Screening check
Work Remotely

Salary: $40,000.00-$45,000.00 per year
