Paradise Express is hiring a Senior Logistics and Dispatcher for our Calgary, Alberta team. This is a full-time competitive salary position in an extremely high-paced environment, requiring you to be on-site in Southeast, Calgary.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Operates within the Code of Business Conduct, company policies and procedures, and all statutes and legislation governing the workplace.

• Works with Drivers to ensure Driver hours are not exceeded and Schedules trucks to maximize time and efficiently and effectively

• Preparing and collecting invoices of all Paradise customer base
• Manages inbound shipment ETA’s and outbound shipments to maximize efficiency and ensure customer needs are met.
• Develops efficient routing patterns locally and internationally (U.S.A) to meet required schedules.
• Must be aware of custom clearance policies within the United States for outbound shipments
• Manages the annual filing of IFTA
• Communicates with Drivers to ensure they are operating in the safest and effective manner, and are compliant with transportation legislation and company policies and procedures.

• Ensures all documentation relating to the movement of orders or shipments in or out of the facility is completed accurately and on time.

• Coordinates team members and resources involved in the daily pick-up and delivery of freight, including Dispatchers, Drivers, Third Party Carriers and Owner Operators.

• Ensures appropriate Driver resource is sent to each call, based on current location, truck size, capacity, schedule, and whether the shipment is fresh/frozen. Ensures the most efficient and effective resource is dispatched to meet customer service schedules.

• Ensures regular communication with Drivers to keep apprised of Driver locations across the network so they may assign the next pickup according to proximity.

• Ensures the collection, audit, tracking and filing of internal paperwork from Drivers

(PODs, fuel slips, and maintenance records).

• Keeps in communication with the dock and central line haul dispatch regarding shipments that will be arriving late or not according to schedule.

• Provides a daily exceptions report to Supervisor, Dispatch, showing all on time and late departures

• Recommends continuous improvement efforts and identifies cost-saving and growth initiatives.

• Answers inbound phone calls relating to line haul delays, driver check-in, hours of service & carrier check-ins.

• Provides vacation and sick coverage for dispatch functions.
• Performs other duties as assigned in accordance with the company vision, mission, strategy and culture.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• High School Diploma or Post-Secondary Degree
• 2-3+ years in dispatching experience in the related industry would be preferred
• General knowledge and understanding of safety and environmental regulations, Ministry of Transport policies and regulations, as well as the adaptability of company policies and procedures

• Experience of Axon Software System is preferred
• Proficient in English is a must; added proficiency in French would be an asset

• Ability to handle and deal with customer complaints in a professional manner

• Highly organized, good decision-making skills and the ability to work well in a fast-paced environment
• Proven team player with a positive attitude and ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with subordinate personnel, department officials, public and private agencies and the general public

• Ability to work under pressure with ever-changing deadlines and work environments
• Basic computer skills are required (Excel, Word, Outlook) combined with experience navigating the internet and the technical ability to learn custom software applications
