Reporting to the Senior Partner, Employee and Labour Relations, Service Delivery, you will be responsible for an assigned group of unions, federations and associations, and be an employee, management and union engagement champion for Human Resources, Partnerships and Equity, in alignment with the HR Service Delivery strategies, Ministry directives and the Board’s strategic goals.
Superintendents, Principals, Managers and employees will look to you as a resource, for support and guidance on employee and labour relations matters, collective agreements and Board Policies and Procedures, and in building and maintaining effective partnerships with unions, associations and federations. As an Employee and Labour Relations Partner – Service Delivery, you will manage the grievance process, from research and preparation, to drafting responses and providing expertise in the arbitration process, as well as manage the collective agreement negotiations process. This will include researching, drafting and presenting key issues to facilitate the bargaining process, implementing and communicating resulting changes to policies and/or procedures, providing advice, direction, support, and coaching on all labour relations matters, and establishing and maintaining excellent working relationships with union leaders.
Committed to keeping current with labour relations trends and issues in the education sector, you will support the application and interpretation of collective agreements, policies, and practices, ensure accurate processing of employee changes and transfers, in compliance with collective agreements and Board Policies and Procedures, and handle wage and salary administration. This multi-faceted role will also involve administering policies and procedures related to resignations, retirements, leaves and secondments, as well as preparing and presenting relevant workshops and presentations.
Working collaboratively within a team, you will supervise and direct the activities of your assigned team to build capacity and promote a positive, productive work environment, and develop and implement quality and service initiatives. You will also support a variety of HR projects and continuous improvement initiatives focused on change management and service delivery excellence, and on the employee experience and engagement, and prepare accurate reports, using data and metrics to inform decisions.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
With a post-secondary degree in human resources, industrial relations, or labour relations, or equivalent related education and directly related experience, and a minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of experience in progressively responsible positions in labour/employee relations in a multi-union and public sector environment, you are well prepared to take on the duties of Employee and Labour Relations Partner – Service Delivery. Salary range: $83,359 – $104,197 per annum (under review)
