The Pharmacoeconomics Pharmacist conducts oncology pharmacoeconomic evaluations and population-based budget calculations for the Systemic Therapy Program.
What you’ll do
Conduct pharmacoeconomic evaluations of oncology drug therapy for BCCA quarterly financial reports to Ministry of Health, BCCA initiated health care outcomes research projects and Priorities and Evaluation Committee activities.
Pharmacoeconomic evaluation is achieved through such means as monitoring existing programs, identifying and determining trends in drug therapy, projecting the impact of new programs and retrospectively determining the accuracy of budgetary predictions.
Employ the skills of clinical literature review, critical appraisal of statistical analyses, methodology development and pharmacoeconomic modeling to collect and analyse data and make recommendations. Prepare final reports.
As a member of the Priorities and Evaluation Committee, provide cost effectiveness data for Systemic Therapy Program proposals and contribute to the evaluation of potential treatment benefit and the prioritization of new treatment program requests.
Conduct and contribute to retrospective and prospective Health Services research through development or support of research proposals, preparation of grant applications, development, implementation, evaluation and validation of research methodologies and the dissemination of knowledge through written and oral presentations and posters.
Facilitate and promote Health Services research through methods such as applying a research approach to problem solving, promoting staff and community awareness and involvement in research activities, identifying issues/practices that require research, selecting outcome measures and promoting the use of research findings in clinical practice.
Manage and monitor the “Undesignated Request” process through the determination and approval of select request scenarios, and provision of pertinent clinical information to the tumour group designate as required.
Provide work direction to the Provincial Pharmacy Clerks re process management and communication of decisions.
Collect data for future planning and budgetary projections and identifies the need for Priorities and Evaluation Committee proposals or BCCA approved Systemic Therapy Treatment Protocol Summaries.
Provide support for research requiring information from the Systemic Therapy Pharmacy Data Warehouse through such methods as assisting in the development of clinical assumptions and the development of data collection techniques.
What you bring
Post-graduate Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from an accredited university.
Completion of a Hospital Residency Program.
Current licensure with the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia.
Four (4) years of recent related experience including experience in oncology and drug usage evaluation or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
You also have the ability to:
Operate related equipment including the ability to use computerized pharmacy and database systems and familiarity with other software applications, for example WORD and Excel.
Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Deal effectively with all members and levels of the Agency’s health care team, patients, family members, members of the public and external health care professionals.
Perform the duties of the position.
Organize work, establish priorities and be self-directed.
Demonstrate knowledge of quality improvement principles.
