Powell Contracting, a division of RSG International, was established in 1967. With over 50 years’ experience, we are the industry leader in providing Ontario with the supply and installation of temporary concrete barriers, noise barriers, crash cushions, guide rails, ground mount signs, overhead signs, and sign structures. Our integrated solutions and project delivery strategies improve project timelines and processes, generating increased capabilities for projects including outfitting highways, transit systems, airports, and municipal contracts.
Reporting to the Facility Manager, the Facilities Supervisor, will organize, supervise, and direct maintenance activities. They will lead and motivate a team in delegating tasks while acting as a link between senior management and the rest of the maintenance team by serving as the primary channel for the flow of information within a facility.
Responsibilities
Prepare maintenance schedules in line with the organization’s maintenance goals and monitoring PM compliance
Frequently inspect facilities to proactively detect potential problems and recommend the necessary repair or maintenance
Ensure subtrades are properly trained and following safety protocols
Oversee and enforce good record-keeping practices
Generate work orders, enter comprehensive job details, and assign work to qualified team members
Regularly inspect the quality of performed maintenance work.
Communicate policies, procedures, and any updates to maintenance staff , subtrades or contractors
Check that every single job is executed on time, to the budget, and without compromising building users’ safety
Work closely with vendors, outsourced service providers, and contractors to protect the interests of the facility
Perform walk throughs of all buildings, conduct mtgs with customer point of contact to determine needs or issues to be addressed; follow up with these when complete
Keep an eye on materials and spare parts inventory ensuring its neatly organized and levels appropriate
Help with the development of maintenance procedures and proactive maintenance programs like preventative maintenance
Recommend budget items, contributing to the development of an annual maintenance budget
Recommend upgrades, overhauls, and other changes to major systems and equipment
Actively participate in projects (e.g. remodeling or renovation)
Actively discuss staff-related challenges with senior management
Assist with day-to-day maintenance work when needed
Check that the premises are safe and not in violation of any regulations
Communicate directly with building occupants to resolve service requests
Create, and update purchase orders
Review and approve invoices
Facilitate and ensure suppliers and subcontractors are being paid in timely manner
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
2+ years’ experience in a leadership role within Building Operations
Ability to lead and manage others (sub-contractors, team members, etc.)
Strong team-player approach to daily tasks
Able to navigate through multiple computer applications and databases
Strong Communication skills
Continuous improvement and solution-oriented mindset
Have strong problem-solving skills and works well within the project environment
Self-motivated and able to operate with limited supervision
Organized and able to perform administrative tasks
