About Our Opportunity
If you are a problem solver, relationship builder, change agent, and service-oriented human resources professional who enjoys coaching, consulting, and supporting managers and employees within a complex unionized environment, then the role of Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) may be a role for you to discover with the Public Service Commission. There is a community of approximately 40 Human Resources Business Partners, each reporting to one of eight Human Resources Client Service Directors, serving the diverse departments of the Nova Scotia Government. The HRBP roles are also supported by subject matter specialists in areas such as employee relations, classification, organizational development, recruitment, absence management, engagement, compensation, equity, diversity, and inclusion in the delivery of our programs and services to clients.
Reporting to the Client Service Director, this is a strategic consulting role and part of a client account management team within our service delivery model. This role is responsible to build strong client partnerships, work collaboratively, and leverage relationships with subject matter experts across the Public Service Commission, and to keep a focus on the potential system wide impacts and implications of all decisions. The Human Resources Business Partner provides coaching, advice, and support on a wide range of topics such as equity, diversity and inclusion, performance management, organizational structure, staffing issues, workforce planning, attendance and absence management, talent management, recruitment and selection, investigations, respectful workplace, issue resolution, conflict resolution and policies, acts, legislation, and collective agreement(s).
Qualifications and Experience

Leadership competencies required at this level of work are: Conceptual Thinking, Strategic Orientation, Outcome Focus, Initiative, Effective Interactive Communication, Partnering and Relationship Building, and Intercultural and Diversity Proficiency. We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.
Equivalency
Equivalencies considered include, but are not limited to, several years of related experience in various areas such as recruitment and selection, classification and compensation, change management, conflict resolution and employee/labour relations etc.
Applicants relying on education and experience equivalencies must demonstrate such equivalencies in their application.

Salary Range: $3,143.79 – $3,929.78 Bi-Weekly
