CUPE07 $25.12/hr $27.06/hr

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide guidance to Cafeteria Staff and assist with prioritization and coordination of their daily activities to support departmental goals and objectives in the Cafeteria
• Planning, preparing, assembling, heating and delivery of meals to customers in a friendly courteous manner
• Maintain a clean, orderly, safe working environment
• Provide technical guidance, support and training to all Non-patient Food Service staff on the performance of their responsibilities
• Contribute to the planning and implementation of staff development opportunities/in-services
• Liase with the Supervisor or Manager to discuss operational issues and service requests in a timely manner
• Ensure that scheduled staff receive their work assignments and preparation methods at the beginning of the shift
• Order and restock supplies according to the requirements of the cafeteria
• Conducts audits and service observations as appropriate to ensure activities are completed in accordance with the departmental standards
• Ensures that communication between customers, team members and appropriate stakeholders is timely, confidential, responsive, complete, concise and accurate
• Demonstrate QCH values: accountability, innovation, respect

REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum 5+ years Retail Food Preparation and Presentation in a cafeteria, restaurant or other food venue
• Grade 12 education
• Food Handlers Certification
• Demonstrated leadership/facilitation skills and experience
• Strong interpersonal, organizational and teaching skills
• Proven ability in independent and collaborative decision making
• Demonstrated excellent knowledge of Non-Patient Food Department operations and equipment
• Excellent knowledge of food preparation, presentation, and related safety guidelines
• Demonstrated ability to safely operate all applicable pieces of equipment in the food preparation and distribution areas
• Demonstrated ability to plan and prepare menus for special days, catering events, and menu cycles.
• Ability to independently assess, prioritize and adjust routines in accordance with department activity and multiple/simultaneous requests.
• Proven excellent attendance record

PREFERRED:

• Previous Lead Hand or supervisory experience an asset
• Post secondary education in Culinary field an asset
