Location: Markham, Ontario (Onsite) – Woodbine and Valleywood Drive – not easily accessible by transit.

Salary: $65,000 – $70,000 per annum – there is some flexibility above 70K but it is all dependent on skills and experience.

Our client, a leading private Canadian investment company, is seeking a Financial Analyst to join their finance team. This company specializes in real estate, private businesses, and public/private equity and debt instruments.

Responsibilities

As a Financial Analyst, you will play a critical role in the finance team, working in a smaller office environment that values thoughtfulness, kindness, and organization. This role is ideal for someone with an undergraduate degree in business, finance, or accounting, along with 1 to 2 years of work experience, including co-op experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in updating and generating reports from Addepar (performance management platform).
• Support month-end and quarter-end processes.
• Prepare and review financial statements of portfolio companies.
• Standardize report generation and financial reporting procedures.
• Monitor the financials and budgets of portfolio companies.
• Reconcile investment broker records.
• Organize tax slips and coordinate with external auditors.
• Conduct ad hoc financial analyses on investments.
• Assist in due diligence for private equity investments.
• Collaborate with investment managers and business partners.
• Opportunity for ad-hoc modelling and additional responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in business, finance, or accounting.
• 1 to 2 years of experience in finance or accounting, including co-op experience.
• Strong financial modelling and analysis skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical skills with great attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Experience with investment management software is an asset.
• Enrollment in the CFA or CPA program is an asset.
