We are hiring for a Certification Specialist in Montreal, QC. The Certification Specialist will be responsible for on-site activities supporting customers as well as for working on technical aspects of certification projects within the Collins Aerospace Transport Canada Design Approval Organization (DAO).
This will be a Hybrid Role (combination of onsite and remote work) based in Montreal, QC.
Primary Responsibilities:
On-site support to customers for aircraft interior evaluations, on-aircraft test witnessing and acting as a technical liaison.
Coordination of certification projects with customers, internal resources and Transport Canada Civil Aviation (TCCA).
Coordination with members of the DAO with respect to review and acceptance of certification reports and documents.
Acquisition of knowledge of certification standards (e.g. FAR 25 / CS 25 ) and the associated guidance material and acceptable means of compliance.
Evaluating and establishing compliance of designs through preparation and/or review of design compliance reports, test reports and other certification data.
Review of proposed customer design changes and development of certification plans for submission to TCCA.
Being knowledgeable of and participating in the Airworthiness Control System of the Collins Aerospace DAO.
Basic Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of prior relevant experience OR
Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience OR
In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required.
Engineering/Other Technical Positions: Bachelor’s degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of aircraft or rotorcraft certification standards (e.g. FAR 23/25/27/29, EASA CS 23/25/27/29) and associated guidance material (e.g. FAA Advisory Circulars), especially in the field of Cabin Safety / Occupant Safety and Flammability.
Experience reviewing engineering drawings and reports.
Experience authoring certification plans for Transport Canada or other major regulatory Airworthiness authorities (e.g. FAA, EASA, CAAC (China), ANAC (Brazil)).
Experience producing design compliance reports, certification test plans and reports, Instructions for Continued Airworthiness, and Airplane Flight Manuals.
Prior working experience in the aerospace industry, specifically with respect to certification of aircraft interiors.
Familiarity with Transport Canada bilateral agreements with other regulatory agencies (e.g. FAA, EASA).
