The Manager of Field Education (MFE) will primarily be responsible for managing the Applied Social Sciences (APS) field education program. This includes mentoring and supervising student interns as well as field supervisors, teaching internship courses, and collaborating with the Redeemer Career Center and community agencies to identify internship placements for students in the APS program.
This position is for approximately 18.5hrs/week requiring flexible hours based on the schedule of internship courses, being available to students, and interactions with agency partners.
Responsibilities
Instruction of Internship Courses
All duties associated with teaching a course. Such duties are guided by approved Course-Level Learning Outcomes.
Management, supervision, and coordination of APS Internships
Identify screen, and select agencies, assign and support field supervisors
Work with students to locate and place them in internships, working collaboratively with the Registrar’s Office and the Redeemer Career Center
Supervise students in internships and ensure that students satisfactorily complete their internship requirements
Collaboration with internal and external partners
Work with the Redeemer Career Center to develop and maintain procedures for securing internships for students
Develop relationships with community agencies and personnel who can provide suitable internships for Redeemer APS students.
Preferred Skills and Attributes
Experience in administration, coordinating and/or working with student interns and field supervisors, and establishing community partnerships
Ability to make judgements and respond to immediate demands, arising from interaction with students
Experience and familiarity with social work field education and supervision
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with internal and external partners
Understanding of latest developments in social work field education
Evidence of ability to teach effectively at the university level
Education, Training & Certifications
The preferred candidate would possess an M.S.W. and
At least two years of relevant experience in social work or a related area, evidence of teaching ability, and eligibility for registration with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers
