Hours of Work: 35 hours per week, with flexibility to meet operational needs
The Dietary Services Supervisor plays a key role within the Sheridan Villa – Long Term Care Centre leadership team and our mandate to optimize the quality of life for our residents and community clients.

In this role you will Supervise a team of up to 45 direct reports, including both unionized and non-unionized professionals.
What you will do in this role:
Lead a team within a unionized environment
Manage, evaluate and mentor this team by providing all supervisory activities for assigned staff including (but not limited to) the hiring of new staff, conduct performance appraisals and performance management requirements, implement training and development plans and coordinate work assignments to promote efficiency of operations
Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias
Maintaining positive and trust-based relations with employees, residents, and family members, internal and external stakeholders
Build and enhance the organizations public profile regarding emotion based care
Promote a shared vision and have knowledge of emotion based care
Contribute to the development of a divisional menu
Oversight of the inventory, ordering and storage of food, beverages, equipment and supplies
Monitor food preparation methods, portion sizes, food delivery and overall presentation of meals, snacks and nourishments and; investigating and resolving complaints regarding food quality and service
Interact regularly with residents and clients with a view in providing excellent customer service
Resident meals provided in accordance to resident preferences and needs
Responsible for chairing the Resident Dining Committee; participate in other LTC Centre, Region of Peel, and other Peer meetings
Reinforce compliance with set menus; including following standardized recipes and production forecasts
Ensure established nutritional standards are in place at all times
What the role requires:
Graduated from an approved program in Food Services Supervision and/or Nutrition Management, member of the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management or a Registered Dietitian with experience in Quantity Food Service and Management
Minimum of two years of related supervisory experience in a unionized health care setting
2-5 years of experience in a Geriatric and/or Long Term Care Facility
Combination of education and experience may be considered
Knowledge of nutritional guidelines and applicable legislation including the Long Term Care Homes Act and Regulations, HACCP, Occupational Health & Safety and Public Heath requirements
Skills/Abilities:
Strong knowledge of unionized work environments and managing the relationships
Ability to develop and provide effective coaching to employees in order to manage performance
Financial management skills to ensure compliance with budget expectations that will include managing the material resources for the entire dietary department including purchasing of food, supplies, equipment
Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
Able to excel in high-pressure situations
Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias
