Hours of work: 35 hours per week
Who we are: Clerk’s Division, Legislative Services Department administers the Corporate Policy process. We develop new policies and ensure that existing policies are current.
What you will do in this role:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our Legislative Services/Clerk’s Division and support the Regional of Peel in the development and/or review of corporate policies & procedures.
We are looking for an effective collaborator… someone who has strong interpersonal skills to build connections across the organization… and most importantly an individual who has strong writing skills.
In this role, you will be the single point of contact in creating, reviewing, and updating all corporate policies and procedures across multiple subject areas. You will provide expert policy advice and partner to lead the development, management and updating of all policies from inception to final approval.
In your collaboration with stakeholders, you will resolve conflict on interpretation of legislation by consulting with subject matter experts. You will also ensure all parties are consulted as needed, in the development and review of the policy, but also maintain a consistent direction in line with the Corporation.
Lastly, you will be a change management specialist by ensuring effective communication strategies across the organization are implemented to raise employee awareness of new and significantly revised corporate policies. You will partner with your clients on these efforts, to ensure all roll outs of new corporate wide policies are effective and proactively anticipate the impacts of such changes.

What does this role require you ask?
A university degree in public policy, political science, public administration, or a related discipline
Five (5) years of relevant experience in policy analysis & policy writing
Knowledge of current and emerging issues related to public policy, municipal, provincial, and federal governments
Demonstrated experience in research, interpretation and application of public policy processes
Strong facilitation, negotiation, and consultation skills
Demonstrated knowledge of research techniques
Proven ability to interpret legislation and regulations
Demonstrated project management and change management skills
An equivalent combination of education & experience may be considered.

In this role you will have the ability to work remotely and attend on-site when required based on operational requirements at the 10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton worksite. The frequency of on-site activities may vary on a weekly basis and based on operational requirements. Your remote work location must be located within the province of Ontario.
