Robert Half Looking for Accounting Manager/Supervisor at Markham, Ontario, Canada Full Time

General Accounting Engagements

• Gain an overall understanding of the client’s business and its systems
• Supervise Staff throughout the engagement
• After consultation with the applicable Partner and/or the client, reflect final tax planning entries in the file
• Schedule the Year-End meeting with the client for their approval of financial statements

Review and Audit Engagements

• Be thoroughly familiar with audit and/or review requirements (CPA Handbook) to ensure all

activities required for engagement compliance have been conducted

• Manage the audit and review process from end-to-end, including planning, execution, review of budget hours, delegation of tasks, supervising staff, final sign off and drive continuous improvements
• Ensure applicable financial statements and review engagement or audit reports and note

disclosure are appropriate

• Ensure file is checked for accuracy and quality and all significant issues and tax planning

opportunities are identified prior to submitting it to the applicable Partner for review

Tax Returns and Other filings

• Prepare and review tax returns prepared by staff and provide feedback where applicable
• Review or preparation of special tax filings (e.g. 2054, 2057)
• Work with both the applicable partner and client to develop an understanding of their existing tax structure and provide recommendations based on the clients unique situation and objectives including estate planning
• Determine remuneration strategies for clients to minimize taxes

Client Management

• Develop strong relationships with existing clients and seek out new business opportunities
• Communicate/meet with client throughout the year on a regular basis and prior to an engagement to determine expectations for year-end and tax planning
• Contribute to the growth of the Firm by obtaining new clients, retaining the existing client base and marketing other services that would benefit the client

Requirements

• Experience in public accounting with small and medium sized clients
• CPA
