Based in the Toronto, Ontario area, this opening for a Corporate Controller is a permanent position. You might be a good fit for this position if you can plan and direct all accounting corporate functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff. In this role, it will be critical for you to effectively manage self and others within strict time constraints when providing client services, lead while also being a team player, generate innovative ideas, and challenge the status quo. What you get to do every day
– Major responsibilities include improving monthly close, pull MD& A information together, assist with audits, control testing, update of technical memos
– Work closely with executive team and partners to facilitate efficient and effective firm-wide operation
– Research, plan and implement Finance Department initiatives including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed
– Responsible for month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis
– Give financial reports to Senior Leadership
– Capable of handling responsibilities beyond formal job duties
– Prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, daily cash management
– Review and revise deliverables of self and team to ensure that they meet client expectations
– Evaluate, implement and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
– CPA Designation
– Public Company Reporting Experience is required, ideal candidates include Managers working in Public Accounting with public company clients or Senior Managers working in Publicly Traded companies.
– Outstanding communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations
– Attention to detail and ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
– Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities
– Prior work in technology, analytics and management experience desired
– Commitment and abilities to meet critical business deadlines
– Progressive accounting experience, including as a Manager or Controller preferred
– Ability to work well in matrix organization and dealing with ambiguity
– Strong analytical skills, with the ability to exercise good judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analysis
